1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Runs fast, until it corrupts your data

Cons: Ran for about 2 months in my macpro then I saw some strange stuff and realized it was corrupting files. Promptly removed. I contacted tech support via email, NO RESPONSE. I then installed it in a non-critical mac-mini and had to run disk repair at least every two weeks or so. It finally died and will not partition at all. I have just sent tech support another email, we'll see what happens

Other Thoughts: Imation should stick to floppy disks and just remove their tech support areas of their web site, totally useless.

1 out of 5 eggsMy Imation SSD died today

Pros: Currently None

Cons: After a year of ownership and lackluster performance, my Imation 27510 64GB SSD died today. Won't boot up, hangs at a black screen after starting to boot into Win7, won't even get to a point to boot in safemode. Gparted and Active@KillDisk show the drive has failure. Not too pleased with this product right now.

Other Thoughts: I have contacted Imation via email (their tech support is not staffed on weekends and today is Sunday) and will await their reply. RMAing and hoping for a replacement that doesn't suck. Any future business I do with Imation hangs in the balance here... I hope they take care of this quickly and without much fuss.

2 out of 5 eggsSomething isn't write...

Pros: Inexpensive for a SSD. Small.

Cons: Slow real world speeds.

Other Thoughts: Although benchmarks show this drive to perform well, It's real world performance is much worse than my old HDD (750gb maxtor). It can load windows faster, but it stalls when watching Starcraft 2 replays, I takes 5 times as long to install programs like VLC and the more I fill it the slower it gets. I regret this purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsMany Failures

Pros: Fast read and write times.
Small Form Factor

Cons: Has failed twice since I bought it a few months ago. I am on my third drive and hopefully will have one that works like it is supposed to.

Other Thoughts: Imation has been good about this. For the second failure, they did not make me jump through the hoops, just sent me a replacement drive with no questions asked. Makes me wonder though how many other people are having issues.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has fast read times. Booting up or opening applications was FAST! This party I loved.

Cons: Anything that involved multitasking or writing to the drive was slow and/or would cause the whole computer to pause for a second or 3. I tried to get used to this, but could not stand it.

Other Thoughts: I bought one for my laptop, and one for my HTPC and ended up replacing them with HDD. Will not be buying anymore SSDs for a number of years yet.

3 out of 5 eggsI bought this,,, why?

Pros: Like all SSDs, the read times are faster than almost any mechanical hard drive. There is no heat, no noise, and no chance of mechanical failure. No studdering. Price was fair at $130.

Cons: This SSD has an updated J-Micron controller, which is a step up from the previous pathetic version. This drive is definitely not for power users or gamers, as the controller still can easily be overwhelmed into stalling and studdering. Downloading multiple streams / streaming videos was much better on my old Segate Baracuda EIDE drive, than this SSD! I suffered with this SSD until I could get a replacement.

As the drive capacity reached 75%, the performance dropped dramatically. I still don't understand why.

Other Thoughts: Pass on this SSD. Do yourself a favor and get something with a "Sandforce" controller. Currently, SSDs with that controller tend to have the best all around performance. It's a little bit more money, but you will not be disappointed. Look into the OCZ Vertex 2 or Corsair Force series, or similar SSDs.

I replaced my Imation M-Class SSD with a OCZ Vertex 2 50 GB.

Until price per capacity improves, SSDs probably will not become mainstream, but they make excellent boot drives, and are the single most important factor in making a fast PC.

2 out of 5 eggsGood price, failed after 6 months.

Pros: Cheap, decent performance for the price, solidish construction.

Cons: Failed after 6 months use.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully, Imation support will RMA the drive.

2 out of 5 eggsBought 2, one worked

Pros: Drive is very fast for reads

Cons: Drive is relatively slow for writes

Other Thoughts: I purchased 2 of these for a Raid0 setup. One was DOA. It took about a month for Imation to replace the DOA drive. I received the replacement drive only to find out that one was DOA as well. Working with Imation to replace the second DOA drive.

Beware of imation products as it appears they don't have good quality control as i'm not 1 for 3.

3 out of 5 eggsDecreases Load times

Pros: This SSD substantially decreases load times on apps, games, and the OS. Battlefield Bad Company 2 loaded in about half the time as with a single 7200RPM 1TB drive. Crysis levels loaded about twice as fast also. If you are a gamer on a budget, or a low budget graphics editor, I would suggest this.

Cons: I installed Windows 7 x64, a few games, and the hard drive was full, while installing files, or copying files to the hard drive I noticed an incredible drop in hard drive performance. While copying files it is next to impossible to do other tasks. I refuse to use this as an OS disk now, and am using it for non-online games, and the adobe master suite.

I would not recommend this as an OS disk, however if you run adobe apps, or games, this drive would make an excellent program files disk. If you want a good OS disk go with an OCZ vertex or similar SSD.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this unless you get a deal on it, like the shell shocker they had a while back. I would give this 2 stars if I hadn't received such a good price on it.
