5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Secure Flash Drive

Pros: First thing you notice, is the build of the drive. When you first take it out of the packaging, the weight of the drive on its own will amaze you. This is due to the steel alloy casing and the injection filled epoxy which are responsible for making the drive so rugged and waterproof to military spec. This drive has been dunked in water, run over, crushed, etc all in testing, and has only come back for more.

One may think that a military flash drive like this would be difficult to use. Just follow the set up instructions, and after that use is a breeze. Just make sure you keep the password backed up somewhere safe. 10 consecutive failed attempts and the drive internally self-destructs. Then it is just a very expensive ornamental key ring.

The secure browing is awesome, especially if you do online shopping or deal with finances and other sensitive info online. Everything is run from the drive, so nothing is left behind on the host machine.

Cons: The only cons I see are just very minor, and dont really effect my overall opinion of the device. My first minor gripe is how long it takes to unlock the device, but this is due to the kind of security it has, so thats fine. My second gripe is there isnt any way to make sure the cap doesnt get lost, other than putting it in your pocket. Some other drives have a cap retention system whether it is a place on the back of the drive to place it, or like some Corsairs and OCZ drives that actually have a retainer on their lanyard for the cap that you just place it on. Come on, Ironkey. For the premium paid for these drives, you could come up with something like that.

Other Thoughts: If you want the ultimate in security and ruggedness and dont mind paying the premium, this is the drive to go with. I love the drive, and see many years of use in it. The only way I would get a different one, is if 4 GB wasnt enough space. If I did get a larger drive, it would be another Ironkey.

For those who want ruggeness but dont want the security and dont want to pay the premium, the Corsair Flash Survivor is a great bet. If Ironkey could come out with something like an Ironkey Lite that had the ruggeness, but not the security, that would be a wonderful thing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product, highly recommended

Pros: Fantastic security product. I love the fact it will actually self destruct after ten incorrect password guesses.

It is extremely secure and perfect for storing passwords, personal information and finances, as well as sensitive or proprietary business information.

Cons: The only problem is sometimes Windows starts to always think the secure volume as damaged and requesting Scandisk scans. The Scandisk always comes back clean, but nevertheless it becomes annoying telling Windows not to check the disk.

Other Thoughts: Great product, without equal in today's market. Highly recommended and worth every penny.
