5 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: Safe. No one will ever get into it. I think it destroys itself after ten consecutive incorrect password attempts.
Strong. I've put this through the wash, in the pool, drove over it, and hit it with a hammer. Still works flawlessly. It will never break.
It has some really cool password memory system so that when you log on to your regular websites with it plugged in, it will fill in your passwords for you. Saves so much time.

Cons: It's heavy for a flash drive. I like that though, because you immediately know if it's not in your pocket.

Other Thoughts: Set it up in Windows, as it says. It works on Mac and Linux, from what I've seen. I pretty much only use it on my Mac, and the only thing is that you have to go through a little more work than normal to eject it. It appears on Mac desktops as a CD image and a flash drive image. You have to eject the CD image first, and then the flash drive image second. Otherwise, it won't "safely" eject.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drive - 100% Compatible

Pros: I just received this device (not from Newegg). Out of the box it works flawlessly with Ubuntu x64 and Windows 7 64.

Very well built unit. Rubber sealed cap that actually holds it on fairly tight.

Cons: A little expensive. However if you need the protection, I don't think there is a better device available. Yes, bigger and heavier than most USB drives, but that is OK, harder to loose.

Other Thoughts: If you read the text file in the linux folder, it recommends activating in Windows. I suggest that as well. Windows has a GUI, where as the linux, it is command line. Once activated with a password, the below Ubuntu procedure just works.

For Win7 the auto run will prompt you to run the windows software. The software is hard code and read only on the device. It does not get installed on the PC. Here it will setup the password and format the drive. I formated NTFS since it is supported under Ubuntu as well.

With Ubuntu, simply open up the folder that represents the drive. Navigate to the linux folder. Right click on the ironkey executable, and run as other application. Enter in gksu and hit enter.

I have not checked, but other formats other than NTFS may be available by formatting under Ubuntu.

5 out of 5 eggsBuilt like a Tank

Pros: Works with both Win XP and Windows 7 64 bit. I have an 8 Gig one that is issued from my employer. Lightning fast once you get through the initial sign-on for it. Great hardware security that will destroy the diver after a bunch of failed attempts to sign-on. But there is a website that assists you if you forget the password. Uses AES encryption. Extremely sturdy and waterproof.

Cons: Larger and much heavier than other USB storage. But then that is a plus since it is just that strength in the case you are looking for when seeking a truly private device.

Other Thoughts: I did not get this from Newegg since it is provided for me. But having dealt with them many times in the past I am sure you would be safe getting it from them.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Physically hardened. Went through a complete high-temp wash/dry cycle and the only thing lost was surface dirt.
*Fully compatible* with Win 7.
Works with Linux.

Cons: Cost.

Other Thoughts: The previous reviewer either had a misconfigured Win 7 platform, or doesn't know how to use it. I had no problems getting it to run with Win 7.
