5 out of 5 eggsworks in my Dell M4700

Pros: Works great in my Dell M4700. Comes with Windows 8 installed.

Cons: Windows 8 comes with alot of HP bloatware. You have to remove it before running the Windows setup. Some of the programs will not let you upgrade to Win 8.1 until they are removed and some can not be removed once installed.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money, Free Windows 8

5 out of 5 eggsSuper fast!

Pros: Compared to mechanical drives or lower-end SSDs, this thing is blazing fast. I know that full SSDs are faster than mSATA, but for laptops where there might only be room for one physical drive, an mSATA SSD is the way to go.

After some configuration, I was able to cut my system's boot time from ~30-40 seconds to just under 8. This thing is awesome!

Also, this price is superb. Huge amount of space for well under $1/GB.

Cons: Check dimensions in your case! My laptop advertised an mSATA slot, but the card installed by the factory was less than half the length of this card, and there were protrusions on the inside cover blocking a larger card. Fortunately, I was able to cut back this plastic without interfering with any components, but this might not be the case for all laptops.

Again: Check how much physical space you have!

Other Thoughts: I'm running a Linux-based OS, and I was able to slash boot time so drastically by ensuring that my kernel booted from the SSD. Both my root partition and EFI system partition are on the SSD, and my home and var partitions are on a 1TB mechanical drive.

Installed in an ASUS laptop:
Sandy Bridge i5 processor
6GB RAM
1TB HDD + 256GB mSATA SSD
Arch Linux with Linux LTS 3.10.36-1

1 out of 5 eggsBoo Hiss

Pros: Price

Cons: For me, Would not initialize. Would not format. BIOS would not see it even though Device manager and Disk management could. My laptop is an HP set up for a mSATA and it just did not like this mSATA at all. There was not little tricks to get around it. HP phone Support was an offer of them sending some one out at $199 and hour to get it to work. Who know maybe I got a bad one.

Other Thoughts: What Good Is Support if they Can't Support the actual Item. Try Finding it on their site.

But however Newegg Rocks in helping me resolve this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for NUC

Pros: Great price/capacity for an mSATA drive. Compatible with the Intel NUCs. Latest technology from a reputable vendor.

Cons: I expect that it may be difficult to get warranty service if needed. But, at around half the price of other options, it's worth that risk.

Other Thoughts: I bought four of these, and I'm using them in Ivy Bridge Intel NUCs for a portable lab. These gave me enough capacity that I didn't need the Haswell "tall" NUC with 2.5" drive support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price for 256GB SSD

Pros: The SSD is based on the Lite-On M6M platform using the Marvel controller and the high quality Toshiba NAND flash chips. Comparing to the price of the Plextor M5M 256GB this is a high quality product at a discount price. I know Plextor has their own software and a very rigorous testing cycle to weed through any marginal devices. Using this SSD in a Lenovo laptop even though it is an HP OEM part it works perfectly. It even comes with Windows 8 Professional pre-installed on the drive already activated. I just plugged the drive into the mSATA port, installed the Lenovo drivers and utilities, and was screaming with Windows 8 Pro. The license alone makes this a great deal and had no problems booting up the O/S. Plextor when they release their M6M drives based on the Lite-On SSD will probably be almost twice the price of this OEM version. This drive should work in any laptop or desktop with a mSATA connection and doesn't have to be a HP system. If you are looking for a Windows 8 Pro OEM pre-activated disk this is the deal.

Cons: Only available in 256GB size as this is an OEM part for HP. Not really a Con but it would be nice if this was available at a reasonable price in a 512GB size but the only size available at Newegg is the 256GB.

Other Thoughts: Using this in a Lenovo X230 with a core i7 @ 2.9GHZ with 16GB of Corsair DDR3 1600 memory as the boot drive. The second hard drive is a Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM platter that runs quite hot compared to this little SSD. My boot time dropped to less than 1/2 compared to the Hitachi. Will be using the Hitachi to store the large media files and backups of my SSD. Too bad Lenovo only uses SATA300 in the mSATA port otherwise I know the Crystal Mark Disk test would have been much higher 270MB/S Seq reads. In real world use editing documents, running packet captures, coding software, drawing visio documents I don't think I could tell my laptop is limiting the drive to SATA2 transfer speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Great Performance, higher than manufacturer specifications say.
My Testing yielded 550MB/s sequential read and 475MB/s sequential write

Cons: Requires some set-up. The drive is made by Lite-On but it is an OEM part for HP... it comes partitioned with an operating system on it that takes some knowledge of diskpart to remove if you aren't going to use it as your boot drive

Other Thoughts: Solid Drive, no complaints.
Also if you have a computer than can boot the partition already on the drive you can get some goodies off of it like some hp software.

5 out of 5 eggsHP 738975-001 mSATA 256GB Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: good size
fast

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: i bought this along with an HP Laptop. I installed it and cloned the drive that came with the laptop to it. i had some troubles getting the HP to boot off the SSD by default, but eventually got it. it definitely sped up the laptop. i also re-partitioned the SSD to leave 64GB un-partitioned so that it could be turned into an acceleration cache (the maximum size allowed by intel's software) for the hard drive. So now I have a SSD boot drive and a 64GB acceleration cache for the second drive. I highly recommend this device for anyone that want a decent sized boot drive and acceleration cache all in one tiny package.
