Quality
- Pros: Slots are clearly identified, small enough to be out of the way when not needed, large enough to handle well when inserting and removing cards. Alignment of the cards with slots and pins is superb. Being a photo buff the above features were important to me so I am happy.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Being over forty :=) it would help if the slot label text was a little larger. After all there is plenty of room for it.
Positive first impression
- Pros: Solid design and construction. Rubber feet combined with the unit's nice weight keep it steady on the desk. Data transfers felt fast and produced error-free copies. More than one card can be inserted and operated simultaneously.
- Cons: SD card was a little tricky to insert. It should be kept straight and moved in slowly to negotiate the multitude of contacts in that slot.
- Other Thoughts: I tested it with the only media I had available at the time - CF cards of sizes ranging from 16MB to 2GB, 340MB MicroDrive, 2GB SD card, 128MB XD card.
There are four slots in the unit and the corresponding four removable drives are created in Windows in the following order:
#1 - SD/MMC
#2 - CF/MD
#3 - SMC/XD
#4 - MS
I tried simultaneous transfers from all three cards to my computer and it worked.

RUN AWAY!!!
- Pros: Small size.
- Cons: This reader is slow and constantly loses connection while transferring files. The most recent being when it rendered my 4gb mini sdhc card unusable. Until I purchased this reader, I was using a $9 plastic reader which never dropped connection and transferred files at nearly twice the speed.
- Pros: Works well. Awaiting rebate which makes device quite affordable.
- Cons: Case mostly plastic. CF cards barely insert into casing which may account for bending pins noted on another review.
CF slots not built well
- Pros: reads many different types of cards. Small and sturdy. except for CF slot.
- Cons: No USB ports, the pins on the CF slot bend easy. I've had it since Jan '08 and it's now unusable for the only slot I needed CF. If you are not exact and extremely careful the pins bend and the slot is useless.
