5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great for 1.67 Ghz Powerbook G4

Pros: I did a some research to double check that this was in fact the correct RAM for my 15", 1.67 Ghz Powerbook G4.

Especially b/c another reviewer stated that this RAM did not fit his 15" 1.67 Ghz powerbook G4 computer.

Here's how to tell for sure: Click the blue apple icon in the top left corner of the screen, "about this mac", "more info"... Click on Memory on the menu to the left.

If you're RAM is described as PC2700 then this will work. 90%+ of the powerbook G4s have PC2700 RAM.

A few of the later ones after October '05 have PC4200 DDR2 Ram -- in which case this RAM will not work for you. Wikipedia article on Powerbook G4s is my reference.

The other reviewer probably had the 1.67 Ghz Powerbook G4 from after October '05...

The RAM installed fine, and my computer is *significantly* faster than before, especially during boot up. Went from 512 mb to 2 gb.

Cons: None whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Installing the RAM is kind of a pain. This has more to do with the tight space and orientation of the RAM slots in the powerbook than anything else. Ram is pushed in at a 45 degree angle into the slot and then once snapping it in place, is pushed back in line with the slot.

Getting out the old ram is a also kind of a pain, but worth the 10 min. hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Reasonably Priced, Easy to Install, Works right out of the box.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to upgrade the memory of my wife's Mac Aluminum Powerbook G4 17". I stuck it in and it was recognized immediately without problems. The 1GB module tripled the OEM memory and made a huge difference in performance. It has been in use now for over a year and we've had no problems. I will likely buy another to replace the original 500 Mb module that came with the machine.

Cons: Slightly spendy.

Other Thoughts: Computer still doesn't perform too great. Just too old.

1 out of 5 eggsNasty

Pros: Cheapest NewEgg DDR 333 Powerbook memory available.

Cons: Received a stick. Didnt work. Returned the stick.

Received another stick. Didnt Work. Now returning a second stick.

Gonna ask for a third, with fingers crossed.

Other Thoughts: Sheesh. Got this for my wife's aging Powerbook G4 Aluminium. Macs are such a pain in the behind.

2 out of 5 eggsfifty-fifty

Pros: Two of the four modules we bought worked.

Cons: Two of the four modules we bought did not work.

Other Thoughts: Bought four of these to upgrade Macs at work. Tried all four modules, singly and in pairs, in both a 15-inch PBG4 and a 17-inch PBG4. Two modules failed consistently in both machines shortly after boot, the other two worked consistently and were still going after running memtest overnight. Will be returning the bad pair to Newegg plus a few bucks for an upgrade to Kingston and never ordering this brand of memory again. Looking forward to receiving the new ram super-fast: Newegg + UPS = 1 day early, *every* time. :-)

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Uncle

Pros: RAM acts perfect. iRAM is good replacement memory for MACs. I also bought iRAM for my Mac Pro quad and it worked flawlessly.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I have an Apple Fanboy uncle but his old macbook g4 had only 512 MB of RAM. So I decided to upgrade it for him. He still loves his g4 running Leopard!
