Failed immediately
- Pros: So small. I was very excited to receive this. I even used this sophisticated tiny drive to prove to my friends that I am their superior. They were very jealous. Seriously though, I was as excited as a person can be about a flash drive.
- Cons: It failed the first time I tried to intensively use it. I was installing the portableapps.com platform to it and the whole thing failed before install was even finished. I tried several things to resurrect it like formatting it, low-level formatting it, trying it on other computers, etc. No good.
Dead.
I read several folks' negative reviews about this happening, but I figured that was isolated. No such luck.
My friends laughed and pointed at me when I came back using my old flash drive. Not really, but I was sorely disappointed.
- Other Thoughts: I will return this and try again to see if this was a random occurrence or a systemic problem.
3rd One Died
- Pros: At this point I'd have to say none since it fails so miserably at its primary task. Safeguarding data.
- Cons: Highly unreliable drive. I have now gone through 3 of these drives. Every one having failed.
- Other Thoughts: So in total I've now eaten almost $20 on these drives (since I was only able to get a partial refund on them).
I know it is the best that Newegg could do for me (ideally they would have given me a full refund, but I appreciate what I can get), but it's still frustrating.
Buyer beware. If you go with Supertalent, you are playing Russian roulette with your data.

Not for the long haul
- Pros: The reason I bought this a year and a half ago was that it was fast. Not the--move normal files in a big bunch--fast but fast access. I run chess engines and they can use files called endgame tablebases, but those have to be rapidly accessible or they are useless because engines are looking at millions of positions per second and can't wait around twitting their thumbs waiting for a response about just one, even if it is important and the answer is the absolute truth. The read part is very small but there are billions of places to read and only a few that mater. It worked great for this. It was several times faster than a harddisk; I did a calculation once but I don't recall the result. Anyway, it was about twice as fast in file access than the other USB flash drives.
That was a year and a half ago, so I don't know if things have gotten any better for other drives. I suspect some ssds are probably a better choice now. They were far from reasonable then and still somewhat now.
- Cons: It fits tight, which made a friend too nervous to force it in his computer so I did not get some files once. It can be hard to pull out if you have something in an adjacent port. Even the chain is hard to get a hold of to pull it out. Perhaps if there was an extendable handle in the back.
I think even at this size there is room for an activity light.
It needs some indicator what way is up so I don't try putting it in up-side-down. Perhaps a big dot on the top side.
Oh and why I am here writing a review...It just died!!! I treated it with care. No viruses on my machine, never went through the wash. Only went through an airport scanner twice (about 4 months ago), and I don't toss it around. But die it did.
- Other Thoughts: Maybe a Super Talent person will see the review and make it easy for me to replace the little guy.
I did not buy it for it but I found it just fine for moving files from a computer with a scanner to another computer...why bother with a network?
It failed right after a big cut and paste to another drive. You might want to keep these to a minimum.
Great for car stereo
- Pros: I use this in a car stereo that has a front panel USB jack. It is perfect for that application as it does not stick out enough to worry about hitting it. These tend to be a bit of a tight fit into the jack which is perfect for a car. In almost a year of use performance has been flawless.
- Cons: It is so small it would be easy to loose.
- Other Thoughts: I outfitted a second car with a USB equipped stereo so I am back for another Pico_C.
PICO
- Pros: I accidentally spilled water on this drive the day I got it. I've dropped it on hard surfaces several times and I keep it on my keyring. I have had no problems with it.
- Cons: It scratches easily.
