2 out of 5 eggsBummer

Pros: It sounds great in writing.

Cons: For the life of me, i can't get Windows to find the drive. My system sees it in the bios, but neither WinXPpro x64 or Vista Ultimate x64 can find the drive to install to it. I don't see drivers or much info for troubleshooting anywhere for it. I'm out of ideas.

The ""out of ideas" part sucks. I'm actually an IT tech and have done hardware for 15 years. I've installed many hardrives in the past, but this one has me stumped.

Other Thoughts: Good luck if you buy this drive.

5 out of 5 eggsFastest drive, period!

Pros: By far this is the quietest (silent), cool (no heat), fastest drive I've ever owned.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've read the reviews here and looks to me that some people don't know what they are talking about as they are referring to a DX version. This is NOT a DX. This is the MX or the fastest drive out there. This baby is 25-50% faster than a WD VelociRapror. Yet generates no heat, it's noise free and it has no moving parts (meaning no crashed disk). This baby been running all my apps blazing fast. My T7200 Duo laptop feels like a brand new superfast computer. Things happen instantly now when they used to take a long time. It is amaing the difference a drive like this makes. Best money I've ever spend. It's like getting a new laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsA word to the wise....

Pros: I don't own this drive....yet. I am writing this to save people some misery. There are a couple known issues with SSD's and Vista. Read the web on it. Some of the problems here looks suspiciously like these issues. Buyer beware. Do your homework.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: The Egg rocks!

3 out of 5 eggsHmmm

Pros: quiet (read silent), cool, fairly quick

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: Having a little buyers remorse to be honest. SSD seemed like a cool idea at the time, but if I had my money over again I'd buy a second WD Velociraptor instead and have $100 to spend on something else.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: This is the second drive I owned (for an exchange). The drive failed after 3 hours of use. The error code was 80h means "Drive not ready". Returned for refund.

3 out of 5 eggsRecieved defective drive

Pros: Using HD Tune, this drive maintains a steady throughput - 50-70 MB/sec read, 25-35 MB/sec write, 0.5 ms access time. Compared to the Scorpio that comes with the TX2120US, heat is about equivalent, load times are snappy, and weight difference is insignificant.

Cons: The drive I received began failing to detect the OS on bootup with increasing frequency. Based on other negative reviews I read online, this technology needs time to mature.

Other Thoughts: If you want to use your laptop (especially a tablet like mine) on the go and are willing to take the risks (quality control issues), then a drive such as this may be worth it. However, don't believe the hype about huge thermal savings with a SSD. Also, if you are doing write-intensive tasks, a SSD might not be for you.

Personally, I do not want to play the "exchange game" until I receive a drive that functions as expected. I'll wait for the next generation or possibly for a hybrid (SSD/HDD combo) to hit the market.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No moving part

Cons: I’ve bought a 60GB MasterDrive DX 2 days ago. After installing Windows Vista with SP1, the drive seemed to be fine. Then I tested the drive for transfer rate, I got only 20MB/s sequential read speed and 9.1MB/s sequential write speed. It was running fine after that. A day later, I started Vista fine. But I decided to reformat the hard drive. I restarted the laptop, run the Dell setup disc, and it couldn’t continue. I tried to enter BIOS, and it showed the hard drive to be 4GB (4.2GB to be exact if I put it into another computer). I want to know if there’s a way to work around or the drive is definitely defective. I am returning it Tuesday morning.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Entry Level SSD

Pros: Fast
Quiet
Easy to Install

Cons: PRice

Other Thoughts: Fast Drive, loads everything fast, write speeds are slow, but that can be expected because of the price
