2 out of 5 eggskingston SSDNow V300

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast and cheap

Cons: Support and warranty. Had been a kingston fan and all i've ever owned until recently when one of them failed. Emailed Kingston support and got confirmation back that the drive is under warranty. But will not replace it because there's no proof of purchase. Um, the drive was a Christmas gift! Was very disappointed and will never own one again just because of that.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue that occurred with the V300 drive. The warranty is valid to the original purchaser which is why a proof of purchase is requested. When the proof of purchase is not available, such as in the case of a gift, it is best to contact us by phone so we can try to work with you within our warranty policy. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD is a good buy

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I hardly use the Windows OS, I am a avid Linux user, But I did set this up as a duel boot with Windows/Linux. I have had not 1 problem with this drive, I am really impressed considering I got it when it was on sale for $59.95. Load time and response time of the SSD is excellent. From a cold start to full boot is only 12 seconds on my system. Would I recommend this drive? YES

Cons: 120gig is not alot of space so it can be filled up easy. Partition the drive into multiple partitions to get close to the 120gig capacity. I was able to get 113 gig out of it and that is to be expected. As for storage space, use a external HD to store programs and pictures and etc to keep this drive less full.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to test, I was and am very happy with it.. Matter of fact i just ordered a 240gig kingston ssd drive yesterday when it was on sale.

1 out of 5 eggsJewel, did you even read the review?

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: None

Cons: Jewel, did you even read the 7/25/2014 5:03:01 AM review? It says:

"So i hooked it up to my sata 3 connection and compared to my WD Black 1tb it's reads were about 20MB/s higher.."

You then go on to suggest that there in a controller issue or configuration issue even though the WD is hooked up to the SAME INTERFACE. Stop with obfuscation and just admit that you are providing an inferior product.

Other Thoughts: You are getting really tiresome with the repetitious excuses.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,
I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support again and would like to offer some clarification. Different drives may behave differently when connected with the same settings. Some motherboards may also have 3rd party SATA controller ports that are the same color as the native SATA ports, making it difficult to know which is which. It is odd that the V300 would perform slower than a 7200RPM HDD. As previously stated, the drive itself may be faulty and we can troubleshoot with you to determine if it is performing to it's specifications. If not performing properly, the drive can be replaced under warranty. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

3 out of 5 eggswell...

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It's reads are somewhat fast compared to a hdd

Cons: So i had his for a little while and installed windows 8 on it for a new pc and it seemed pretty fast but then i decided to take it off this new pc and wipe the drive to use it in my main pc and use the windows 8 on a different drive. So i hooked it up to my sata 3 connection and compared to my WD Black 1tb it's reads were about 20MB/s higher but it's writes were at 60MB/s slower.. It didnt come close to it's fastest speed and infact it was slower... Than a harddrive! How is that even possible.. So i am going to try and rma but this was a bit annoying when this was my first ssd. I dont recommend it but it is cheap and works decent (if all you wanna do is read files and not write)

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue experienced with the V300 SSD. We are here to help and can troubleshoot with you to determine what may be causing the discrepancy. Some settings or drivers can cause the drive to go slower. For instance, if the drive is connected to 3rd Party SATAIII ports like AsMedia or Marvell. AMD controller drivers have also shown to have intermittent performance issues with our drives and using the Standard AHCI or MSFT AHCI drivers allow the drive to work properly. If the drive itself is not performing properly, it can be replaced under it's three year warranty. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent! Great SSD for an upgrade!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: For the price, i bought it on sale at newegg. I like the packaging the drive itself doesn't feel like some cheap device. Casing is sturdy.

Upgraded my laptop using Macrium and I didn't have any issues with it.

Cons: None for now. It is still working as far as I can tell. No issues setting up.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Excellent performance, replaces mechanical drives by force.

Cons: Writes feel a little slow.

Other Thoughts: Purchased to replace the mechanical drive in a 2 year-old mid range laptop. It was like having a new machine - for those owners (especially in laptops) of mechanical drives, there is really no reason not to upgrade. No bad sectors or performance degradation after a year.

1 out of 5 eggsNever Buy from Kingston

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Cheap, but there is a reason!

Cons: These people DO NOT stand by their warranty. You call them and they dont call you back. Then after you badger them, they will exchange your product and take your warranty away for a month warranty!

Other Thoughts: I wont ever buy from this company again. Most every company I have dealt with will go above and beyond for your business, but not Kingston, they dont care. They got your money, and they are in control from that point on. I love the EGG, but never Kingston again

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the poor experience with our warranty process. Technical Support is available 6AM-6PM Pacific M-F while our RMA/Warranty department is available 7AM-5PM Pacific M-F. Typically, if a voice message is left with a contact phone number, we would return the call the next business day. Email requests are typically responded to in 1-2 business days depending on volume. As for the warranty period, generally with limited warranty products such as the V300's three year warranty, the warranty period begins on the date of purchase and would end three years from that date. The remainder of that warranty period would be applied to the replacement drive as long as a proof of purchase is provided. There may have been some confusion in the process and one of our warranty representatives may be able to clear things up for you at 800-337-3719. For complete warranty terms, please see: http://www.kingston.com/us/company/warranty
For any further technical assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

1 out of 5 eggsSystem Boot Fail Twice

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Coming from a 5400 rpm HDD, this SSD was significantly faster and for the time that it worked it gave me 15s boots.

Cons: Runs cool and well while it worked. However, i do not enjoy living in the fear of knowing my system could fail at any moment.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue experienced with the V300 SSD. We are here to help and can replace the faulty drive under it's three year warranty. All of our products go through 100% testing to ensure quality and reliability, as detailed here: http://www.kingston.com/us/company/testing . Even so, all electronic components have a small chance of failure. As we stand by all of our products, the drive can be replaced under warranty. It is highly unlikely to experience any issues with a replacement drive. For assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch faster than my HDD

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I was worried after reading through the reviews about this SSD, but took a shot anyways. At $50 you can't beat the price, so I thought it would be worth the risk, and boy was it! Windows 8 boots in 13 sec with a Core i5 and 8gb dual channel RAM. I had Window 8 installed, set up and running in less than 20 minutes.

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Assuming it has a relatively long life span, this SSD is well worth the money. I have seen a drastic improvement in boot times and loading games.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: For $50 totally worth it. Anything more than that I would get a bigger SSD

Cons: Wish it was bigger
