5 out of 5 eggsSo Fast Compared to Mechanical

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I have used several of this Kingston series in various builds and have had no failures to date. I expect the same from this drive. It is difficult to compare SSD drives when talking about seat of the pants speed because all of the different brands I have used are fast. I guess time will tell concerning long-term reliability but for now I give 5 stars..

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Speed is great, enough storage for my needs, no reliability problems

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace the older mechanical drive in my laptop. Originally was dual booting this with Win7 and Ubuntu. The speeds in both were noticeably better than with the old drive. Eventually I scrapped windows and went with ubuntu with full disk encryption. If it is slower, I don't notice it.

3 out of 5 eggsEarly Failure

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: I bought this SSD 11/07/2014.
It's a pretty good, solid performer.
Speed isn't the best, but it's definitely a huge step up from a normal hard drive. For the price it is nearly unbeatable.

Cons: Yesterday, Windows started to detect that my drive is failing. I'm not necessarily sure if there's anything I can do to stop it, but as of right now we're looking at potential failure 3/4 of a year in. Slightly disappointing seeing as Kingston is a very large, reliable brand.. But failures happen.

Manufacturer Response:

William,

We apologize for what has happened with the V300 that you have received. The good thing is that these drives come with 3 years warranty and we can assist with replacing the drive. I've created a case number for you, SR256524. Please contact us in technical support line at, 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT .

Thank you for using Kingston SSDs.

5 out of 5 eggsBoom shakalaka!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Soliiiiid Staaate, they're much cheaper then the original launching hype just a few years ago, do yourself a favor and buy one of these, or even better, a 480GB, u wont regret it.
Fast, reliable, amazing writing and reading speeds, quality sturdy products from Kingston.

Cons: Cons? From Kingston's memory's products? Dont think so

Other Thoughts: Had, have, used, use many kingston products, $$$$ company, ranks way up there in the new technologies leaders. If they ever lifetime guarantee their SSD's like they do USB keys and SD cards, i will have a major geek turn on.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Love the SSDs. They are fast and reliable.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I'll beginning to phase out my mechanical HDD Drives with SSDs in all my machines. Re-use the HDDs as paper weights or just to backup less important stuff.

4 out of 5 eggsSSD V300 240 gig drive

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: this thing is fast and definitely 100% quietter than the 2 striped drives that I was using.

Cons: the 1st drive was bad, the PC and windows wouldnt recognized it. ( I was worried that it was the PC) Kingston RMA'd it and sent a new one, had to give a credit card hold to do a cross shipment. got the new one in 3 days. The new drive was seen by the SATA Ver2 raid controller on the 1st boot up

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on the Acronis software that was recommended in an earlier review. after buying it, and paying more for an upgrade, it still didn't work (my stripped drive was a win7 dynamic disk). luckily it was refunded one from acronis and 1 from newegg. I was able to use windows backup with a system image/recovery disk on a spare hard drive, then restored the data to the SSD. booted from the recovery CD, and used the back up from the spare hard. now I cant even tell I installed the SSD
except for the blazing speed and a lot less noise.

4 out of 5 eggsGraduation gift for my brother!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Outstanding performance delivered, and the price seems reasonable than it was a while back. I once bought an Intel 180GB for a little over $210.00

Cons: At least three months of ownership, still no flaws - at least for now.

Other Thoughts: My brother just graduated from LU Online basically, so we all know by now, having a flexible SSD with a flexible amount of storage is the key to staying on top of business and education that keeps coming at us. Kingston SSD's would be one of many graduation gifts to consider.
