Other Thoughts: What distinguishes this reader is that it has a click-in detent which prevents accidental removal of the card.

Pros: I bought a Canon Vixia HF M500 digital camcorder (Newegg item N82E16830120612) and along with it a PNY Polaroid 64GB SDXC memory card (Newegg item N82E16820178537). Being a SDXC it is not readable in my laptop so I needed to get a reader. Newegg has very few readers which are SDXC compatible, this being one of them.

One nice feature about this reader is the memory card fits inside it and doesn't stick out of the back, the same kind of spring load which laptops and other electronics use.

The build quality feels alright. It's light, but it's just a small LED with a small circuit board surrounded by a plastic shell. I wouldn't travel with it, but it's not egg-shell-fragile.

Speeds are good, though it will depend on the speed class of your card. USB 3.0 is nice, but unless your card has a speed in excess of 60MByte/s, you're not going to see a difference over USB 2.0 (480Mbps = 60Mbyte/s). Tested with 4 different cards (2 SD, 1 SDHC, and 1 SDXC) they all achieved their advertised rates.

Cons: EXPENSIVE! Newegg has multiple internal card readers which connect to your USB headers on your motherboard for not very much more money than this reader and can read more than just SD, SDHC, and SDXC. I had to have one which could read SDXC and would easily be transported to multiple computers so I had to use an external USB reader.

For the price you would think this would come with a metal housing with a rubberized weather resistant coating, but it doesn't even come with caps to protect the USB prong and card reader slot.

I want to make it clear that the -1 egg comes from the lack of protectors and lack of a metal casing and weather/shock resistance.

Other Thoughts: For around $10, this would be a great reader with the only cons being the lack of protection. But for over double that, I would only recommend this reader for someone who has SDXC cards which need to be read across multiple computers where an internal drive isn't practical.
