Made for real speed demons, the Asus ROG RAIDR Express PCI-E SSD brings your gaming experience to a brand-new level with really, really fast disk performance. Built on the latest Toshiba 19nm 16k page NAND flash, and powered by dual LSI SandForce SF-2281 controllers, it delivers sequential read/write speed 830/810MBps and up to 100,000 4K read/write IOPS, allowing lightning fast app launches and ultra smooth system responsiveness. The ROG RAMDisk further pushes the envelope with over 12,000MBps by using the computer RAM as a high speed virtual drive.

The ASUS ROG RAIDR Express comes with user-friendly DuoMode that contains two BIOS chipset to, for the first time in the world, support both legacy and UEFI motherboard. An array of exclusive ROG features, like ROG SSD TweakIt, HybridDisk, Secure Erase and ROG CrystalDiskMark maintains the high speed you expect, while extending the drive’s life. This SSD is equipped with professional-looking double-sided metal shielding for better protection and heat dissipation. And paired with aggressive ROG logo and red color accent, the ASUS ROG RAIDR Express is fantastic for your gaming power house, where the power is on or off.

  • newegg DuoMode - First legacy and UEFI BIOS-compatible PCIe SSD RAIDR Express is the world’s first and only PCIe-based SSD that features two BIOS chips and an onboard hardware flip switch, letting you alternate between legacy and UEFI modes, ensuring the best compatibility. In legacy mode, the RAIDR Express can be used on older motherboards — those with traditional (non-UEFI) BIOS. Flip to UEFI mode, and you can significantly boost the startup time of your PC. You get the flexibility of choosing which mode is right for you, and make the best of both.
  • newegg Driver-free design with complete TRIM support With an Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI), RAIDR Express doesn’t require any drivers – so you can experience the incredible speed benefits from the moment you plug it in. RAIDR Express also features support for TRIM command from within the operating system – support for which few other PCIe-based SSDs can provide. This keeps RAIDR Express running at top speed while extending the drive’s life.
  • newegg RAMDisk- Double up on speed with RAM and SSD This brilliant feature allows you to use up to 80% of your computer’s available memory as a high-speed virtual drive to accelerate the loading of favorite apps and games – to over 12,000MBps in our tests! ROG RAMDisk uses what are known as ‘junction points’, so there’s no need to re-install your software. Just choose an application, and RAMDisk will ensure that your PC will directly access its files and data using the extreme speed of the computer’s own RAM. But that’s just one great feature of RAMDisk. Better still, RAMDisk extends the life of your SSD because it reduces unnecessary read-write cycles. RAMDisk even backs itself up to the main system drive when you shut down your PC, and restores itself automatically the next time you power up. It’s ready to roll as soon as you are — it’s all speed and no hassle!
  • newegg SSD TweakIt - Take control for faster and longer-lasting storage SSD TweakIt is designed to provide the easiest way to get top-notch performance and ultra-long durability. It auto-relocates repetitive write activities to RAMDisk for even faster browsing, while keeping RAIDR Express at peak performance for much longer. You can also apply a preset profile that automatically refines the processor (CPU) settings to achieve a speed boost of up to 5%.
  • newegg Secure Erase One simple boot from the included utility disc totally refreshes RAIDR Express to regain its original performance – like it just came out of the box the day you bought it. This is done by securely and completely removing all data from RAIDR Express in Linux, so you can also refresh your RAIDR Express even it’s the system drive. Now, you don’t need to worry about the performance degradation due to accumulated data and frequent writing.
  • newegg ROG HybriDisk - Enjoy both SSD speed and HDD space ROG HybriDisk supercharges you with hybrid storage powered by SSD caching, so you can make your hard disk drive (HDD) go faster than SATA! It works with your HDD (up to 4TB), so you can enjoy data transfers that effectively smash SATA-based SSD speed limits (600MBps). You can now enjoy hard drive capacities with SSD speeds – the best of both worlds.

4 out of 5 eggsGOOD TO A POINT

Pros: Works quite well with AMD Cross Hair V motherboard , 8 core proccessor @ 4.4 ghz basic no over clock , 16 gb pc 2400 @ cas 9 , MSI R9 290 video card , WD 1 tb black , 2 tb black , and 2 wd 300gb Raptors in raid 0 , 1150 watt ps , Asus 24 inch 3 ms monitor , Blackhawk midtower case.

Cons: 240 gb formats down to 220 gb , you have to remove games that you have downloaded so you can play a different game , you download a game that takes up 32 gb of space plus several others over 20 gb , soon you run out of room to play your games without glitching . With the drive only 2/3 full it works fine , but after that the drive and the performance drops. I only have one thing to say to ASUS , if you can make this good of a 240 gb PCI-e hardrive , why not make one over 750 gb atleast ?????

5 out of 5 eggsUnparalleled Performance

Pros: From a performance standpoint, this is just about unbeatable. The speed and stability of the drive are extremely impressive. I use this a "secret weapon" when building and designing custom systems for high performance users or gamers.

Cons: It is not hard to install, assuming you are familiar with your motherboard and other components. It is compatible with most motherboards, even older ones, but it really benefits from a UEFI BIOS.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste the money. Go Samsung.

Pros: None. Slower than advertised. Difficult to install. Died after 10 months. Terrible ASUS customer support. Bad, Bad, Bad.

Cons: Speed not close to what is advertised. Difficult installation with little to no instructions. Work around after work around to get my ASUS Maximus VI to recognize it. Died after 10 months. ASUS SUPPORT ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. RMA transaction a nightmare. Still haven't received my card after a month. Stolen by ASUS as far as I am concerned.

Other Thoughts: I have been a fan of ASUS for over 15 years. Not so much anymore. Doubt I will ever buy another ASUS product based on Customer Support alone. Go with Samsung 850s in RAID 0. So much easier to do everything and sooo much faster as well.

1 out of 5 eggsMuch slower than advertised

Pros: looks nice

Cons: In a PCIE 3.0 slot it runs about 100 MB/s slower than advertised, in PCIE 2.0 it runs 178 MB/s slower than advertised. Even advertised speeds are slow for a PCIE SSD, but this is just ridiculous, you're almost better off just getting a regular SSD.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this.

2 out of 5 eggsASUS Customer Service not overclocked

Pros: Great concept... two SSDs mounted on a PCIE RAID controller...plugged straight into the bus. Really fast for OS and large games (like BF4).

Cons: Customer service. ASUS RMA page wouldn't accept the SN from the box. Couldn't submit a case unless it accepts the SN. Sent a regular email to customer service... and got a reply saying they would open a case. Over a week later and nothing. Web page interface should be much more user friendly but their validation script is broke. It just seems like ASUS isn't what it used to be.

Other Thoughts: I don't recommend this card. I recommend two Samsung 840/850 EVOs/PROs in RAID 0. Configuration, troubleshooting, and customer service will go much better.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus RAIDR is way better than OCZ

Pros: My company has purchased 8 OCZ RevoDrives since 2011. Every single one of them has died. OCZ has done the jiggly dance to get out of warranty every time. So not only have we had high $$ engineers sitting waiting while someone diagnoses the failure (OCZ) but they wait while OCZ decides how to get out of their warranty. We have lost tons of man hours due to OCZ failures. It's been a real problem with these PCI cards.

It's not just cards either, we have had 5 OCZ SSDs in laptops, all but 1 has failed. Of those, only 1 was warrantied. Again, lots of critical time lost.

Yes, it's true, these OCZ drives are fast, but their reliability and support is horrible.

Recently tried the Asus RAIDR. Less $ than OCZ. Just as fast. So far it's been reliable. No drivers are required (which has been a real problem with OCZ over the years.) Also, the Asus comes with a nice ramdisk utility that'll really speed up windoze.

Save your $ and time and bypass all OCZ products, they fail and OCZ won't stand behind them.

My company has permanently banned OCZ products due to their high failure rate.

Cons: None for the Asus RAIDR. The OCZs are junk.

5 out of 5 eggsMacPro Tower compatible

Pros: Fast SSD. 640MB/sec read, 630MB/sec sustained write. Currently being used as a boot volume in OSX 10.9.4

Cons: Non so far. Works as expected.

Other Thoughts: Macintosh support is not explicitly defined. Your mileage may vary.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so Fast!

Pros: Works, but not as fast as advertised. Installed in PCI E slot, had to use UEFI bios switch to on to recognize in bios of my Asus Z97 Pro

Cons: Had problems getting my Asus Z97 Pro to recognize device, had to switch PCI slots to work, bios gave me a 5.06 gbps rate. I thought it was much faster. After installing ASUS software, my Win 7 Pro started crashing with err 044. Returned to Newegg,

Other Thoughts: Asus support was OK, but unable to find enough installation instructions to make this thing work as advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Beats any other SSD I have owned, Avg Read/writes are above 700MBps! (between 705 and 715) worth the money if you need something fast!

Cons: cost and had to take out my 2nd video card but sold both and upgraded so not a big deal

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: fast boot times. fast drive

Cons: Durability

ASUS RMA PLAIN OUT SUCKS!!!. Called asus for a initial RMA told me they could cross ship. I waited for an email from the for 4 days, got nothing. Called them again, then they told me I could not have a cross ship. Sent drive to them 2 day turn around time (very good) to ship me a different drive. Refurbished drive was dead on arrival. Called asus Rma dept. told me they would cross ship. This time I waited 3 days to call them back, they told me again they would look into the matter and send me and email. No email.... Called them the next day said they would call me back in 2 hours... guess what no call. I was so aggravated off I purchased a OCZ revo 350 from newegg. Called again the today, the rma departments computers are down and I have to call on monday. I guess they use asus computers.

Other Thoughts: This is the second time ASUS sent me dead replacements.. I will NEVER purchase another product from them again. Dont bother writing a reply its means NOTHING to me. If you write a reply I will republish the 4 RMA numbers that were assigned to me for one product and everyone can see how you treated a customer who purchased a $379 drive.
