5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy install, very straight forward. Nice to have two connection options. I opted to go with the USB vs the SATA just so I don't have the permanently attached USB just dangaling inside my case. Read and write speed are great. Fit and finish look good for those worried about asthetics.

Cons: None so far

Cons: read other thoughts

Other Thoughts: Got it for extra USB and SD reader. No problems to date on 2 builds.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It has USB and SATA connector.

Cons: I had purchased the item before and its been over a year and still working fine. Just recently purchase a second one and it was DOA. I requested Newegg for replacement and 10 days later it arrived. Once again it was DOA.

1 out of 5 eggsreads sd but breaks win7 system restore

Pros: It works as designed to read sd cards.

Cons: Windows 7 creating system restore points breaks. It took several months before I realized that this was happening.

Other Thoughts: I spent a full day recently trying to find out why Windows 7 system restore break points had stopped working 4 months ago. The automatic system restore saves were not happening. I tried to create a restore point manually, but the process timed out saying that the shadow copy service timed out. I thought it was a software problem. Finally, I looked at the date of the last automatic save and realized that I had added this card reader around that time.

I disconnected the card reader from the system board usb header and was able to do a manual restore point save.

Problem solved. Card reader removed from system.

I have an Asrock P67 Pro 3 system board.

4 out of 5 eggsseems good but limited options in placement due to short power cable

Pros: seems to work as should and great variety of accepted cards!

Cons: the 9 pin usb internal power connector to the motherboard is too short (12"). The placement I wished for this was at the topmost external drive bay and the usb power connector could not reach the usb power port on themobo in my full atx tower (read other thoughts for specifications)

Other Thoughts: Using a Antec Twelve Hundred V3 case and the P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 motherboard.
I ended up using a 9 pin usb internal extension cord I found on the internet.

4 out of 5 eggsMedia Reader

Pros: Very simple installation. Everything reads fast.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It is a 3.5' media reader so if your buying this make sure you have a place for it on your case.
