In the Old West the Cavalry was there to protect you. In today's wild and wooly world of data back-up they still are. The CAXE 1TB drive comes in a heat dissipating chassis that also incorporates shock absorption to protect the drive and your data from two of the data world's biggest foes.
The SATA II drive can transfer up to 3Gb/s when hooked up to an eSATA port. If your system doesn't have a port the drive comes with an adapter cable to convert a regular SATA port to eSATA. A USB 2.0 interface is included to give the drive near-universal compatibility.

Great buy
- Pros: Tons of space for dirt cheap. Very reliable so far, but I haven't used the eSATA connection yet. I abuse it pretty badly, i.e. 4+ day downloads that are usually single HD video files over 10 gigs. I also managed 18 simultaneous downloads with an overall rate of around 12.5 Megabytes/sec to the drive, each download about 6 gigs, and it did just fine with that for about 4 hours. The casing gets a little warm sometimes but that's just because it's good at dissipating the heat from a drive that's spinning for 100 consecutive hours. I've also run a few games directly off the drive while downloading in the background and still no problem. Basically I'm trying my best to make sure it crashes during the warranty period if it's going to crash, but it's been pretty tough so far.
- Cons: The seek time is a bit longer than what I'm used to from my much smaller drives, but then again what do you expect for 1 TB. No significant cons, really... unless the blue, somewhat vajinal LED really bothers you THAT much.
- Other Thoughts: I'll probably buy another one when I need it.
DOA
- Pros: Small drive, quick shipping, as usual, from newegg.
- Cons: Drive was recognized for only a few seconds on Vista 64-Bit and again on XP 32-Bit. Shortly after is disappeared and was MIA. The only way to get it going again was to power-cycle the drive which only repeated it's disappearing act.
- Other Thoughts: Since I'm deployed to Iraq I waited over 3 weeks for the product to get here. It was still generally quick shipping compared to other packages I recieve. This drive was going to serve as a file server on a network my section uses. Cavalry wants me to pay for shipping to return the product which is nothing cheap from here.

Terrible - Incompatible
- Pros: Works fine with USB
- Cons: ESATA does not work. I have tried this with 2 different PCs and used the included pass-thru bracket along with plugging it into a controller card. No SATA here
- Other Thoughts: Junk. Very dissapointing. Drive is really slow
Dead after a month
- Pros: Great price. Newegg Rocks.
- Cons: Died after 1 month. Has a Samsung drive in it.
No
- Pros: I have nothing to complain about Newegg. Came fast, everything accounted for, and easy. Worked good for the first month.
- Cons: No i have to ship it to Calvary Storage. The darned thing stopped working and will only beep and make clicking noises at me, obviously hinting at either a defective drive or loose parts but of course you cannot open it up without voiding the warranty. Everything I have on it, gone.
- Other Thoughts: The price is way too cheap people. Think about it this way, you get what you pay for.
