No software, I didn't want any.
Totally Plug and play both USB & eSATA. Installed in seconds.
Very low noise (no fan) and very low heat!
- Cons: Oddly, I ordered this and received a box, sealed with CAXE/CAXM on it instead of CABX? Seems the same drive.
Something you may not know...
I wanted this to install eSATA and paid extra for it. It did install via the eSATA port on the MotherBoard. eSATA ports are not an addon card but an integral part of the MoBo. This drive was not recognized as a SATA drive. Infact, the BIOS of my ABIT P35 Pro mother board added it to the "bootable drives" in "Advanced BIOS Options" but listed it as SCSI Drive not SATA?? The device manager lists it under Disk Drives...Go figure??
Remember, this is not a Cavalry problem, but is the on board eSATA problem of my MoBo. My investigation of this phenomenon resulted in the realization that many MoBos will handle an external the same way.
I tried both eSATA ports and reformatted. No help
- Other Thoughts: Beware, had I know this, I would have bought an internal drive or a USB only or...built my own. Pieces available here at the "egg".
External Drive: Check!
- Pros: Has worked flawlessly so far, even on a machine that only has USB 1.1 ports.
Good price for what you get.
- Cons: None that I can think of; it's an external drive that does its job.
