4 out of 5 eggsNice equipment

Pros: Fast transfer speed with GB interface. Unit has worked fine for quite some time and no major issues, most likely with disk quality.

For office that need backup space and some storage as iscsi target, this unit is easy to setup.

Cons: User documentation is not clear and updated. We have to contact tech support for clarification.

HDD compatibility list update is slow and even outdated.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what other user experience is, but the experience with the tech support is quite pleasant. Well, just my two cents.

1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE NO-Customer Support from Manufacturer

Pros: Lots of HDD space with 7-bays, supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD. GIGA Bit Dual NIC, eSata, *Nix, Mac and Win XX OS compatibility, Intel based MB, multiple USB connections and supports too many (good point here) protocols (tcip-ip, FTP, NFS etc). Great device configuration capabilities.

Cons: End-user manual and help files are pretty poor and like WeedWhackerDood said in their review, 'Chinese Engreesh' is clearly evident; why not vet for language specific country distribution or is it just 'good enough'?!

Admin password reset erases all settings and user configurations; why not have an Admin password reset option?!

Funny how WeedWhackerDood is having the same issues we are with constant REBOOTS/FREEZES. When we contacted the rude and helpless Manufacturer Customer NO SUPPORT, we were told to submit via the Web Support Ticket and stop calling directly; HOW RUDE!!!

We worked with NewEgg and they are going to send us a replacement device. Due to the Manufacturers past reputation, we will give them a second chance, but not a third. We will keep you informed on how the new one works out, anyone can have a bad day.

Other Thoughts: As we said above, anyone can have a bad day, however, the lack of support on this has been alarming and we hope that this is not a sign of the future.

Thanks for reading our review. Stay tuned, we will update when we have the new device burned-in.

1 out of 5 eggsProblematic, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

Pros: 7-bays, RAID 0-10, Dual NIC's, UPS port, eSata Port, Ease of Configuration.

Cons: Chinese Engreesh for manual and help files, Admin password reset erases all settings and user configurations, REBOOTS or FREEZES CONSTANTLY, WORST VENDOR Customer NO SUPPORT I have EVER SEEN! Device stayed alive 1 time long enough to build the RAID5 Array, then it will not stay alive for 30 minutes. This is not rocket science, this is EASY!!!!

Other Thoughts: Save yourself the grief, buy a REPUTABLE device from another company. REPEATED (>3) phone calls, emails, Thecus Support Portal Submissions, have gone either unanswered/ignored or rudely handled. Conf.bin file (shows how device is setup/running) sent via email >3 times yet Thecus NO SUPPORT claims it was not sent when it is successfully received by other email recipients in CC and BCC distributions. Repeated attempts to obtain THECUS SUPPORT were met with NO SUPPORT. When asked for Support, was informed they dont offer REFUNDS! I wanted SUPPORT not a REFUND! Thecus Phone Support disconnects after 10 minutes on HOLD, when you call back, you are put to the REAR of the queue! Thecus said, "Send it back to Vendor and buy something else if you aren't happy without Support!" I have the call RECORDED to prove that statement so don't censor this NEGATIVE REVIEW NewEgg! NewEgg is supportive and is sending a replacement device. THANKS NEWEGG!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat NAS

Pros: Fast, quiet and simple - just works. Working with WindowsXP, Mac OS X (AFP and SMB), and FreeBSD. I have (7) 2TB drives installed in a RAID6 with XFS and a iSCSI target. It's based on Linux so there are 3rd party modules that can be installed (SSHD and a few others) - though this isn't supported officially so I think it voids the warranty. Tech support responded within the same day to my question (about 6 hours later) and the issue I had with firmware upgrading was resolved.

Cons: The (English) manuals aren't as in depth or as clear as I would like but that's really not a big issue for me.

Other Thoughts: At first I was annoyed by how bright the front display is but if the escape button on the front is held down then it turns the display off. I look forward to using this NAS for years to come for my backup images and other files. Of course, a RAID system of any type is not a "backup" - it is just a redundant array that lowers the probability of losing data. A true "backup" is stored on a non-running device like an external hard drive that is powered off and put somewhere safe.

5 out of 5 eggsthere great!

Pros: quite, simple, reliable. have had running all 7 bays with 2tb drives in raid 5 for 3 months, no problems. works well with my win 7 ultimate 64 bit system as well as vista 32 bit

Cons: its a inch and a half to tall to fit where i wanted to go, not a bad thing- just something to put in the con
