Ready For the Future
Future technologies are around the corner, and the N7700+ is ready. With its PCI-e slot, the N7700+ can accommodate a number of emerging technologies. Add a 10Gb Ethernet adaptor and experience the lightning-fast file transfers. With PCI-e expansion, the N7700+ is ready for whatever may come.

Unique Dual DOM Design
In business, having access to mission-critical data at all times is crucial. The N7700+ is equipped with a dual Disk On Module (DOM) design to ensure flawless operation and maximum uptime.

Stackable Storage and iSCSI Ready
The N7700+ supports iSCSI initiators, which allows servers to access it as a direct-attached-storage device over LAN or Internet with excellent transfer speeds. With this capability, users can centrally manage and deploy storage for their entire network. In addition, the N7700+ is also stackable, enabling users to connect their unit with up to five additional N7700+s via a master system as a large data pool. With iSCSI and stackability, expanding the capacity of application servers is both quick and easy.

Maximum Flexibility and Expansion
Aside from being iSCSI ready, the N7700+ offers unmatched flexibility. Support for multiple file systems including Ext3, XFS and ZFS, as well as online RAID migration and expansion, means that the N7700+’s data protection and capacity are upgradable and can be integrated into virtually any company network with ease. Users can add larger hard disks to available slots and join an existing RAID volume. The N7700+ will automatically rebuild the RAID array and increase storage capacity.

Handy Snapshot Feature for Version Control
The N7700+ is capable version control via a snapshot function with the ZFS file system, allowing users to efficiently create and restore remote backups. For users, the result is total data security and peace of mind.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device

Pros: This is an excellent NAS which performs storage functions beautifully!

If you want something cheap that can keep large amounts of data safe or to pump videos out to TVs (I use WD TV Live players), then this device is for you!

Cons: Thecus apps are pretty bad. For example, I have multiple brands of IP cameras. Neither myself nor my other tech buddy could get them working with the Thecus app. They did however pull right up on both the Synology DS411Slim and Synology DS2413.

If I were to compare Synology apps to Thecus, I would give Synology a 10 and Thecus a 1. So, if you are looking for a NAS to function more like a server and less like a storage device, then I recommend something else.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: 7 Bay's, Multiple interface connections, GUI interface win, Reasonable support, massive protocol support.

Cons: Only con I can give is if you have the old firmware, there were a few issues. Make sure you check for latest firmware. I had a few drives (WD) that showed as degraded or failed in the raid, not sure if it was the old firmware or not, as after reformat, the drives appeared fine. The latest Firmware that I am running ( is a HUGE improvement. New GUI Win!

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these, running RAID1+1spare, connected to 2 of my X-Serves of GIG Ethernet ports direct, so I can locate drive bays approx <300' away (DR plan smash and grab in a location we can easily get to if we cant get to server room). The NIC these are xnnected to are lower priority (in network window) and dont interfere with live network. Use script to mount the drives at login.
X-Serve 10.6.8 X2
Thecus N7700 X2
3x1TB Drives X2 (1 for each Thecus)
Bombich CCC/BRU (backup software options)
