5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Easy Setup, small, tons of features.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I've been very happy with this product. I set it up in a small office. It saved them a lot of money compared to buying/installing a true file server.

I only bought it for file serving functions, but it also has lots of other features built in.

I haven't been this happy with a product in a long time. I'm about to order another, so I thought it was time to review.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat NAS

Pros: Very easy setup. Very fast access on 1GB connection. Incredibly easy installation. Has wizards for the beginner or advanced setup for the more advanced user. Web interface is very clean and understandable. Drive installation was quick and dirty. Has a built in anti-virus scanner. USB ports on back for external devices. User accounts to control access.

Cons: mycloud doesn't offer any security. It relies on the NAS to provide secure login. They do offer easy setup to other, more secure DNS servers. USB 2.0?

Other Thoughts: If I purchased another NAS; I would probably purchase one with more disk drives bays to backup the disk. I cold hook up a external, but I wanted something that would fit in a small space. I would opt for a slightly bigger unit with more bays. Not a con for the device I purchased. It works great

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Little NAS

Pros: This is a great little NAS/server. Setup was quick and dirty. I was up and running in minutes. Web interface was clean and easy. Relatively non-geek could have the basic configuration up and running quickly. Has a lot of advanced features available for the user who wants media server, file server, DNLA, etc.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent little NAS

Pros: Bought this for a client and I have to say it is well worth the money. I paired this up with a WD 1TB Red drive which was easily recognized. Went through the instructions to set it up and initialize the drive and it has been running ever since. Great webGUI makes this easy to configure. . Permissions are easy to set up and work well.

Cons: Windows 7 has an issue seeing the shares, but it is easily worked around using DNS names instead of IP's. From my experience Windows has a hard time seeing its own shares as well at times so I think it has to do with Windows.

Other Thoughts: Follow the instructions on the quick start guide. These will save you time. Has you install a piece of software to "find" the drive on the network. After you program the IP the software is no longer needed unless you use DHCP for some odd reason.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Flexible

Pros: -Plenty of advanced features like iSCSI, RSYNC, etc.
-Easy to setup
-Quiet, low power operation

Cons: -Backup software is glitchy
-Slower than expected transfers due to CPU speed
-Mobile multimedia access was too cumbersome to use effectively

Other Thoughts: I like this drive quite a lot, and have been using it for 6 months as a simple SMB share to direct backups to. Used a mix of 3rd party software and the QNAP Replicator that comes with the drive. The QNAP software was powerful, but glitchy and we had numerous times where it would stop working and we lost data. Although it does seem like QNAP is working hard to improve this software it's still not up to snuff in my opinion.

As a result I am now setting up a VMWare ESXi server and will be using the QNAP as an iSCSI datastore. In this arrangement I will use Windows Home Server 2011 to handle the software side of the backups, with the QNAP little more than a USB hard drive, albeit a very flexible one. :)

5 out of 5 eggsGood NAS for home/small office

Pros: Not expensive, faster than competitors in this price range. Easy to manage, stable. I use it to backup VMs of my home ESX server daily - no issues at all.

Cons: I wish it would have faster processor. 50mb/s via esata or gig ethernet is good but not great.
