5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast transfer speed and it works flawlessly.

I do not use any of the QNAP software so I can't comment on them.

Cons: Power plug does not lock in.

5 out of 5 eggsThrilled

Pros: Fast, Reliable, Simple, works like a charm.

Cons: None, except that the power cord seems a bit precarious. One tug on the removable power cord could cause instant calamity in our office. Our tech guy got some packing tape and taped it to the unit to make it more secure.

Other Thoughts: This is our first NAS, installed 5.months ago. We got rid of our old server, and this was definitely a move in the right direction. 5 months without a flaw. It amazes me how simple, and how fast it is. It has tons of features, I just wish we knew how to use more of them. We don't back up to the cloud....yet.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but Unreliable

Pros: Fast, solid build, great hardware.

Cons: Horrible to non-existent technical service. Buggy and unreliable firmware. Buggy surveillance station.

Other Thoughts: I have had this NAS since July and it has been a nightmare, please heed my advice and don't get sucked in by the great hardware. The software is horrible and it seriously affects the performance. I have lost access to my personal shares at least 2 times since it has been new so if you do buy one backup often. Don't rely on getting help in the Qnap community forums there are a lot of admins that are worthless so you are relying on other novices to help you diagnose.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: Beautiful web interface. Supper easy setup. Quiet. Low power consumption. Easy point and click install of apps, using Qpkg.
X86 processor makes this unit faster than ARM based systems.

Cons: None really, price is high, but this is just about the most full featured NAS available. DYI solutions for a low cost medial server might be a better alternative for advanced . After a couple of years I had filled my unit up, and built a 15 bay Unraid server of less than the cost of the Qnap 2 bay.

Other Thoughts: This is my second Qnap Nas Purchase. This unit is identical to the 259pro, which is now longer available. The only difference as fare as I know, is a faster processor. My first unit has been running without issue for over two years. This one was set up as a media server for a friend, with automatic downloading of content. Installed Sickbeard, Couchpotato, and SabNzbd with a few mouse clicks. Transfered 2tb of content to NAS in about about 37mbs. over gigabit lan.
