DLNA, AirPlay and PLEX Support Black Case, Remote Control Incleded Pros: Easy to setup, as well most all QNAP devices. Excellent QNAP technical support, always available to help with any issues. Virtualization support for many different operating systems, including Windows 10. Updates to the system and applications constantly provide new features and improvements to their products. Cons: Documentation on virtual support and best performance inside the VM is limited. Make sure that after you get the VM up and running you swap out all of the drivers, manually, for the virtual drivers and adjust your settings on the VM as needed. This will provide the best performance for the system. Performance with small IO for disks is slower than expected due to limitations and virtualization support. Other Thoughts: Used this device to create a multimedia system as well as to host a single virtual Windows 10 workstation. Performance is on par with the hardware being used except for the small disk IO performance. The system has worked very well, however, when restarting the QNAP it will attempt to put your virtual OS to sleep and sometimes during restart it will cause the VM to lock up and go to 100% CPU utilization due to the sleep process. Additional options for the virtualization process would be ideal to control whether the VM was hibernated, shut down or STR in order to help keep things running smoothly. Virtualization on the QNAP devices is still a young product and will most likely improve with time as the product grows. Having the ability to have a single unit that provides all of the needed functions is very helpful as well as the backup functions and other features of the device. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
