5 out of 5 eggsFAST and a little loud

Pros: This HD is amazingly fast when compared to a 10k Raptor and even a pair of cheap 80GB in Raid 0. This drive alone received a Vista rating of 5.9 when my Raptor could not come close. Random access is very impressive. Folks with lower amounts of RAM that use a lot of Page File will like this drive.

Cons: It is the loudest drive I have ever owned. Do not let that put you off though. It's not obnoxious at all. Gets pretty hot but I use a Thermaltake HD water block for it and never gets more than warm.

Other Thoughts: Only the MSI K9A2 Plat has the controller onboard to run this drive. ONLY!!! It's the Promise T3 chip. More boards need to do the same. The stand-alone controllers are extremely expensive. Also requires a special SAS to SATA cable to be used.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this drive.

Pros: I got two of these drives to use as the system discs in a RAID array for our new server. The transfer rate is fantastic. The server is much faster now thanks to these drives.

Cons: As with all 15K RPM drives, they get very hot.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh Performer

Pros: I've had one of these running for 6 months now, in a workstation that rarely powers off. The drive is relatively quiet, and outperforms SATA drives by a large margin.

Cons: SAS controller cards are a bit expensive. Try to get a motherboard with an onboard SAS controller if you can.
