5 out of 5 eggsGreat Backup SAN System

Pros: Great feature set, reliable, fast, iSCSI great, price.

Cons: Poor documentation

Other Thoughts: We've purchased several of these systems for backup appliances and they have been working great. I haven't had any issues with the iSCSI after the firmware was updated. Excellent unit for the price!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad so far

Pros: Price, supported protocols, speed, scalable design ... bang for the buck.

Cons: The documentation could be more complete and there are a couple quirks in the sometimes non-intuitive web interface.

Other Thoughts: Still burning in and testing but I'm reasonably impressed so far. If you're looking for a real SMB solution (verses SOHO or home use product) in four figures, you might want to check this one out.

Plugged it in, turned it on, came up with no problem. Joined it to Active Directory, threw a couple hundred gigs of data at it then pulled one of the drives without warning to simulate a drive failure. It sent me an email telling me there was a problem.

With the array degraded, I threw a hundred more gig of test data at it (no noticeable speed loss) and replaced the drive I pulled. It sent me another email that said it found a suitable drive automatically started rebuilding it.

I can't speak to the first reviewer's iSCSI result because I haven't tested that feature yet. But so far, this little (relatively) inexpensive 1U is more than meeting my expectations.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible iSCSI support

Pros: Relatively cheap, compared to other 1U SAN products.

Cons: The iSCSI support is horrible. I get disconnects when I generate even moderate write load. Two of my three iSCSI targets were disconnected when I was first formatting them. The iSCSI support is unusable for me. Unfortunately I bought this particular unit specifically for its iSCSI feature.
