Really the best external harddrive yet!!
- Pros: This thing is awesome. very easy to understand the instructions. plug it in, and put the cd in..BAM!! you done...accepts firewire 400, firewire 800, and usb connects(2.0 or 1.1 backwards compatible.)
Well Vented from the top to the bottom. so heat can escape and not float around inside the enclosure.
- Cons: would of like a small 40mm fan with it..but it will do..my room stays cold anyways...

Unusable with my Mac

- Cons: Like others, I need the speed of a 7200rpm drive and Firewire 800 to edit video on my Powerbook. I had read good things about WD so I decided to switch from the Lacie's I've been using. Unfortunately the WD MyBook Pro drive has a major issue with Mac OSX 10.4 that is still unresolved by WD. When the Mac sleeps, the drive does not re-appear after waking. I had to reboot, or unplug the power and Firewire cable from the drive, then plug back in to make it re-appear. it's was unacceptable, especially because I have 4 other Firewire 800 drives daisy-chained, so I would have to un-mount all to re-mount the WD drive. other owners are having the same problem:
I attemped contacting WD before returning and did not get a response. Beware of this too!

Great Hard Drive
- Pros: I have two to back up my main hard drive. One is for off site storage. So, far no problems or hiccups.
I like the ease of use of using the button on the front.
- Cons: none
Working well so far...
- Pros: Very easy install of the drive and the backup software. Took me 5 minutes to configure.
- Cons: None so far. Will keep you posted.
- Other Thoughts: Great Price and of course New Egg's prompt service is unparalleled.
Great drive for the price
- Pros: I love it's well built, well thought overall design. The available connections are ideal for any situation. Though the funky light is kind of confusing but I don't care. The drive can be turned off automatically on its own when you turn off the computer. Great feature.
- Cons: not really yet.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this drive for storage and video editing on my Powerbook, once it is reformatted and had its driver installed on the Mac, it runs great.
