5 out of 5 eggs8mb Cache = YES, 16mb Cache = NO

Pros: I've been using one of these drives for almost 3 years now and it's still the best drive I've ever owned. I also own a 74gb Raptor with 16mb cache and I don't know why but it's still faster AND quieter than the newer 16mb cache version.

Cons: It's only 74gb and the price is still a bit high...a little more than $1 per 1 gb...but it's still worth it if you're going for performance. If you don't need the speed, go for a good quality 7200rpm drive.

Other Thoughts: As soon as I get some more money I'm buying another one of these, hopefully that's before they disappear. I'm very disappointed with the 16mb cache version of these drives (I've actually had 2 of them, but one crashed within the first month), but if I can get my hands on more 8mb cache Raptors I'll be a very happy man.

3 out of 5 eggsBroken

Pros: I'm stationed in the desert, and I received this product from New Egg in 5 days (Pretty Good).

Cons: ITS BROKEN! Absolutely horrble packing job. It was shipped with my ram in a box loosely packed with peanuts in a thin layer of bubble wrap. I've pulled mailroom detail before and I have first hand knowledge of how these packages are handled. I've read other reviews and this seems to be a trend. Please fix your packing methods!!

Other Thoughts: I hear good things about Western Digital, I'm sure it would have been a fantastic hard drive but I wouldn't know.

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive for the price

Pros: Price, performance. Yes, it's the older, 8mb cache model. So what? Anyone on a budget will find this a very economical upgrade to their box.

Cons: Slightly noisy, but then, I kinda like to hear the drive running periodically. Also, since it's a re-cert, it didn't come with any documentation, utilities disk, etc.

Other Thoughts: I was intially worried, based on some of the reviews, that I'd get a dead drive. Not so. Everything was fine.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Good price with performance nearly as good as my 74gb raptor with 16 mb cache. Same noise pattern with both drives - fast but noisy

Cons: Cant figure out what makes it "recertified". No markings on it as such. HD Tune utility showed it had 12450 power on hours when I got it and a 2004 manufacture date- also had 3 Linux partitions. May be more of a " pull" than a recert ?

Other Thoughts: I guess 12450 hours is not bad for a device rated for 1.2 million. Cant figure out how WD handles the advertised 3 year warranty

5 out of 5 eggsJust a Update

Pros: Insane, truley seeing the capablites and limits of DDR 2 pushed to the extreme.Well Mushkin does and does it the best.Well with it run smooth all 24 hours a day and hard gaming i decided to push it to 1187 and added 1v calls for 2.3 put it at 2.4 so I have 1187mhz DD2 5-5-4-12 totally stable. And with the current 60dollar rebate making 199 dollar ram.It blows all other ram out of the water, performace and price wise

Cons: ZERO

Other Thoughts: Simply put the Mushkin DDR PC 9200 5-5-4-12 is the fastest DDR money can buy and most stable

5 out of 5 eggsGood as new

Pros: Inexpensive high performance drive. Using it as a boot drive for XP, boot (after Post) is under 90 seconds. SMART logging reports all specs well within tolerances. It has been running with high duty cycles for 3 weeks with no trouble.

Cons: The word " Recertified" worries me. I won't be storing anything I can't replace on this drive. For gaming applications it is perfect but for anything work related, better to use it as a scratch disk and store your data somewhere safe.

Other Thoughts: Not as loud as some people suggested. I have an all aluminum case with two high volume fans running, plus the fans on the CPU and GPU. The drive can't overcome the the low hum of the fans. Also, if you are really a zero DB geek, you might consider a sound dampening jacket for the drive in conjunction with a water cooling solution.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat and inexpensive

Pros: Fast and cheap for the price. I got two of these and raided them. They are awesome and load programs faster than I thought possible.

Cons: Low gb/$$

Other Thoughts: Some people's didn't work I guess, mine worked beautifully when I set them up.
