1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: DOA item. Could NOT return to NewEgg since I was busy and it's more than 30 days to create RMA. NewEgg website states it is still in manufacture warranty. However, check the warranty on manufacture website, it said that it was out of warranty since 2005. Now stuck with a death Hard Drive. What a joke!

1 out of 5 eggsNOT recertified

Pros: Reasonable price....shipping was adequate
NEWEGG was very polite to inform me that my RMA request was for a purchase that was a month beyond the replacement period.

Cons: These drives are not tested at all. We did not test one of these immediately upon reception only to learn it was defective AFTER it was out of RMA range. Opening the anti-static bag and placing it into service too late for an RMA, is a mistake we shall not make again.

Other Thoughts: Western Digital is usually a very good brand but we surely will test all products immediately upon reception from this point forward.

5 out of 5 eggs233GB eh?

Pros: Quiet. Cheap.

Cons: IDE

Other Thoughts: The standard for drive capacity measured in gigabytes is actually just an age old misunderstanding. The manufacturer reports 1000MB as a gigabyte. The capacity in gigabytes of a 250GB HDD would actually only be 233GB as measured in hex (1024MB=1GB) by Windows. SO.. using Windows, all of your hard drives are actually smaller..? Not really, you still have all of that space. It's just measured differently.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: large, quiet, suits my needs perfectly

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: after upgrading to this from an 80gb 5400rpm drive, windows and my programs load about 2x as fast as they did before

4 out of 5 eggsVery good price.

Pros: Cheap drive for the space. I have used it about 1 week in an external enclosure. It has been on 24x7 and is warm to the touch. I use it at work to play mp3 files, it has worked fine so far.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Save yourself some money and buy re certified drives, they are sometimes better then a new one.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems tpo work fine

Pros: Works well, Installed easily and did not require a low level format.

Cons: Seems kind of slow. Gave it a foour just because no EIDE drive deserves a 5 anymore.

Other Thoughts: Good drive for a legacy application like the one I am using it in.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I still have my other hard drive connected but i migrated all my data plus the OS to the new one works great. Fast

Cons: It is louder than my older 100Gb drive from Seagate. I rarely ever heard my old drive making any noise.

Other Thoughts: Great shipping time.. was shipped the 21st got it next day size comes down to about 233Gb maybe should be advertised as 240Gb not 250Gb

4 out of 5 eggsa good solid drive

Pros: it's pretty fast and you get tons of space. also doesn't make too much noise when being accessed.

a good drive for older systems that need a little life.

Cons: won't break any records. also, it has only 2mb of cache. and there was something weird about formatting it. see other.

Other Thoughts: if you're going to install this as your main drive you might want to have another drive with an OS on it and start it up to initialize and format the disk while you're in windows. then pull out the old drive and leave in the new one and once you setup your partitions you should be fine.

i installed xp, vista, and then finally when neither booted successfully i wiped the drive and installed 7, which did something i guess.
