Remember when 20 MB drives were "it"? Then 1 GB drives were the rage? Here we are at half a terabyte, folks, and for less than what 30 GB drives cost when they were new. How big is a tera-anything? That's a one followed by twelve zeros. The distance light travels in two months is about one tera-mile. Too abstract? Okay, if your DVD holds 8 GB, this drive will hold the equivalent of 62 DVDs with room left over for part of your CD collection.
There's only three things you can really get excited about in a hard drive: the size, the speed, and the cost. We covered size. The maximum transfer rate is 3Gb/sec using the SATA interface, so it's fast, with a 16MB buffer to help it keep up. It's value priced and comes with a manufacturer's limited warranty to further protect your investment.
Don't run out of storage in the middle of a project; get one now!

Awesome Drive
- Pros: Low price for huge space. VERY quiet and VERY cool(I built my system geared towards low sound and low heat because my parents complain a lot). This is much cooler than the previous 3 platter version, the 5000KS. I have 2 5000KS' and their temps are at 30 degrees Celsius whereas this one, the 5000AAKS is at 24 degrees Celsius.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: I'm actually using this baby as my boot up drive and I haven't had any problems. Speed seems fine to me but I value space more than speed. This will obviously not be as fast as a Raptor. If you want a big drive that's cheap, cool, and has good acoustics, this is the drive for you.
Great HDD
- Pros: I am using this as an external HDD. It works great. Fast transfers, quiet, and I have nothing to complain about so far. Price was unbeatable for the amount of storage provided.
- Cons: Haven't found any yet.
- Other Thoughts: For all those who do not know much about computers/Hard drives, the formatted amount is always less than the amount advertised, so please do not put that as a con because it is the same with all Hard drives.

GREAT! CHEAP.
- Pros: FAST HARD DRIVE, ALTHOUGH THEY SHOULD BE COMMING OUT WITH SATA 6GB/S SOON. NEVER GAVE ME A PROBLEM. NO CLICKING OR BAD SOUNDS.

Top performance for Windows Vista IntelliSeek - Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration. SecurePark - Parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non- operational shock tolerance. |
