5 out of 5 eggsBought it for about $40 a few years ago

Pros: Runs great, absolutely great bargain for the price I paid.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: With the flooding going on I can imagine why the prices have gone up so far. Then again, Bangkok wasn't the only HDD manufacturing plant out there, these companies usually source to several manufacturers that didn't flood. Methinks they're using this terrible situation to get HDD pricing back under control. Don't know why they need a disaster to dictate their own prices, but whatever.

4 out of 5 eggsA good investment for a budget gaming PC

Pros: Quite quick with Read/Write speeds. Noisy clicking when reading or writing, but same amount of noise as any other HD. When idle spinning, almost silent.

Cons: With the price increase from Taiwan (and consumer demand) it really isn't worth $160, but when that's all you've got to spend on a HD, it's worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat drives.

Pros: I love this hdd its serving its purpose quite well and still runining strong.

Cons: I'm so sick of hearing people are saying how much drives are right now cos of the the flooding in Bangkok. Here's why I'm so disappointed in people, people that makes minimum wage and higher plus people that sky's the limit her in the U.S.A. and there are most places in the world that cant afford food and clean water and my cousin that lives in west Malaysia they even cant afford toilet paper and at least we weren't the ones that lost many loved ones in that flooding atmosphere so the last thing i want to here is how much drives are please.

2 out of 5 eggsOne year and dead?

Pros: Whisper quiet. Was $40 in Dec. 2010 (13 months ago).

Cons: I think it's dead/dying. No way I'm paying $149 for a replacement. Came here to find out about the RMA everyone keeps talking about but details are scarce. Newegg says go to WD.

Other Thoughts: My PC freezes every 15 seconds to 2 minutes, sometimes to black screen, never BSOD. WD Lifeguard reads "Health status = Warning". I pulled my 8400 GS thinking it was hot, PC still froze w/ on board 6100. My 10 year old Samsung Spinpoint - which sounds like a jackhammer - was put back in running XP all day and no freezes. So maybe it's Win7, but I'm thinking it's the WD HDD. Too bad it won't stay alive long enough to let me run the extended test.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Been running this drive for over 3 years, and never a problem. Very quiet compared to my previous drives, including a WD 120GB.

Cons: Doubled in price since I purchased it, but I understand why.

Other Thoughts: I wish I'd bought a larger driver before the price spike.

Cons: None to speak of.

2 out of 5 eggsDissappointing

Pros: Quiet, fast, worked in Intel based raid 1.

Cons: 2 out of 3 failed. One under warranty, the other out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: Not even close to worth it above $50. I went with Samsung and Hitachi for new build and replacements.

I do have 2 WD RE drives in the same PC that are hanging in so far.
