- Pros: Very affordable. Purchased 6 at a great price and built a fast set of systems for a customer. The 6th PC was never turned on, so I didn't count that one. ://
- Cons: How much is your data worth? Drives died after very little use. Now I have to RMA them back to WD who will send me refurb drives. Oh goodie! The black drives seem better, but I have had to RMA those too. The only consolation is that WD will cross ship. Makes my customers happier (Seagate) when they don't have to wait 4-5 weeks to get their system back up and running.
- Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time with these. Simply Horrible. Why risk your data and the headache. I wish manufacturers viewed their customers as something other than suckers. Plz Plz someone come out with better quality drives. I hate RMA'ing.
You'd be stupid not to
- Pros: Extremely good price
Never overheats
Quick-allows a snailtastic Dell to boot up in seconds, making it look like a beast.
- Cons: If you rub it, a genie doesn't come out. To be honest, that was not high on my list of priorities, anyway.
- Other Thoughts: If you are on any sort of budget at all, this is the hard drive for you. It is cheap, cool, efficient, and reliable, which is everything you should ask for from a hard drive.
Western Digital is the only company you should ever look at out there for hard drives, and the reason is drives like this.
Fails on multiple levels
- Pros: Made by WD. Price. Small capacity for older systems.
- Cons: This drive fails on many levels. Sometimes locks on fresh installs of XP/Vista/Win7. Or if you do get the OS installed will drop out of the BIOS on warm reboots.
- Other Thoughts: I've probably used a few dozen of these. SATA and IDE versions perform and fail the same. Get a black editions or a green if you can live with the performance hit.
