4 out of 5 eggsOkay drive

Pros: Had it for 6 years and still working.
SMART readout says about 3 years of usage and over 1000 days to go.

Cons: Parks heads

Other Thoughts: Parks heads which save electricity, but has the occasional freezing with games and movies.
Still a great storage drive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 4.5 years and still running perfectly! Has survived multiple cross-country moves by car.

Cons: None. Exactly what it says on the tin.

2 out of 5 eggsfirmware flaw

Pros: Worked good for a while

Cons: I have 3 green drives and 2 have started acting up. Writing to the drive becomes very slow and gets slower as the transfer gets closer to finsihing. Theres are tons of complaints on the WD forums and WD does nothing to help.

4 out of 5 eggs4 years and then...

Pros: Reliable
Reasonable cost at the time
SATA 3gb
Capacity

Cons: Slow, it's the weakest link in my RAID-5.
Reliable until it is 4 years old.

Other Thoughts: Disk is in the process of dying after 4 tenuous years of abuse. I'm about to replace it with a equi-sized Caviar Black, the Greens are too slow and I hear about them dying after 3 years regularly after constant use.

3 out of 5 eggsRaid array

Pros: Large size, good speed, better energy efficiency than most other hdds.

Cons: Built my own computer using two of these in a raid array, worked fine for a few months, then the slaved hdd failed bios, degrading the raid. WD sent a new one through their rma, but recently the other hdd failed the exact same way. Finally had both fail the other night, I have heard from several of my techy friends that the green series can be fickle. Looks like they were right.

Other Thoughts: I'll probably upgrade to the black series.

5 out of 5 eggsRUNNING SMOOTH

Pros: I have 2 of these 1TB drives. One’s been running trouble free for 2+ years & the other for 4+ months.
Both of the other bad drives were very promptly replaced by WD. WD has printable return shipping for under $6. The one where they ship a replacement 1st, secured by a credit card until the RMA one arrives, took less than 5 business days to arrive. The RMA one that I shipped & upon arrival at WD, would ship a replacement took a total of 7 business days for drive in hand.

Cons: NONE WITH THIS MODEL

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive

Pros: It's still working and allowing me to put tons of info on it. my previous seagate drive died after 3 months of service leaving me stranded. Big backer of Western Digital, still have an 80 gig from 10 years ago that runs perfect for me.

Cons: packaging seemed odd, only packing peanuts and no info for the drive, though none needed.

Other Thoughts: Set up in an old rig with a raid card. Can't keep up with new tech ahhhh.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good price for the outstanding amount of space. Got one of these as a pre-christmas present for myself, got it, plugged it in, and it ran. My dad ended up stealing it to use in is computer and bought me another one, same scenario. Its done everything i've asked it to do, no regrets for going WD open box.

Cons: Newegg OEM packaging kind of scares me, however i havn't had anything DOA yet.
