5 out of 5 eggsCombo Deal Unbeatable

Pros: Lightning fast CPU processing (6.4 on Win7 performance index). Extremely low power draw. Bought the newegg combo deal (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.235851), which includes 4gb ram, 500GB drive, and ECS motherboard... all for $223!!!!. Have built plenty of Asus-based machines, but this was the simplest, fastest build I have ever encountered. Installed Win7 effortlessly. Combined w/ the Antec Earthwatts 380W power supply for 40 bucks, this was also my cheapest ever PC rebuild. I am absolutely blown away by the performance of this combination. I leave my PC on just about all the time and this thing is so extremely silent I can barely tell that it's powered up... simply incredible. And it runs so bloody cool too. My old setup (ASUS A7V-333 MB W/ Athlon Thunderbird CPU and basic AGP video card) noticeably heated the room it was in. I bet my electric bill drops substantially.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Purchased this drive almost two years ago and have had no complaints. Quiet running, and doesn't get very hot.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: With technology always advancing and lowering the price of hardware, this is a great deal on a great drive. I've owned WD drives for over 12 years now and I've yet to have one go bad on me. Can't say the same for Seagate or Hitachi. This drive has been formatted numerous times, and I've installed everything from Windows Me to Win 7 RC1 on it with no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsLong Life

Pros: works well in game centric PC running Vista. Since April 08 has lived in two case. Never had any issues or felt the need to add supplemental cooling. Never lost any data.

Cons: Has 'disappeared' once or twice in last few years, but came back before I could figure out if it was a windows or hardware or layer one issue.

Other Thoughts: I can hear it. Not that loud, quieter than my fans, but I wasn't looking for decibel specs when I purchased it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive

Pros: Drive is fast and stable

Cons: None. Should've gotten the 1TB

Other Thoughts: I have now been using this drive for a couple of months as my primary hard drive replacing the original drive and using it as storage. I've had no problems at all this drive performs well.

3 out of 5 eggsMiddle of the road

Pros: It writes data, persists that data, then removes it when it is asked to. It is also cheap.

Cons: It is kind of slow, but I reiterate that it is cheap.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. This is a middle-of-the-road drive that won't win you any speed competitions.

4 out of 5 eggsGood device for the price

Pros: Picked up this drive as a replacement to an old drive that did not sound reliable. The price was great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Good price for a WD caviar blue series.
