5 out of 5 eggsOne finally died after 5 years

Pros: I had two of these running in a NAS and this last summer, after 5 years, one of them finally bit the dust.

Cons: Drives don't live forever - that's why I used RAID1

5 out of 5 eggsGood drive

Pros: Ran for the last 5+ years no problem.
Takes all the abuse of me throwing data at it like a champ.

Cons: -not as fast as a ssd but what do you expect?
-Nowadays you can get bigger drives then this with larger caches and size in general but I also bought it in 08

5 out of 5 eggsTwo Running in Raid

Pros: Bought two and a raid controller in 2009, both still working without a hiccup. Bit old tech now but still get the job done.

Cons: Won't make me coffee very often

Other Thoughts: Computer hasn't been off more than 3 hours since it was turned on (has been a quasi server most of its life)

4 out of 5 eggsBad sectors appeared after 4-5 years

Pros: I bought 3 of them in 2008/9. Two which were bought later (2009) are still running without any bad sector.

Cons: First HD, where OS resided, started to show some signs of aging. Few bad sectors appeared after 4 years or sow.

5 out of 5 eggs5 years of heavy use

Pros: I am very surprised that this thing lasted as long as it did. 5 years of music listening/editing, VIDEO EDITING, 3d animation and gaming, and sectors are JUST NOW going bad. All that, plus the computer was pretty much on 24/7 for the past 5 years, acting as a media server for music and video. I was even able to back the whole thing up after running chkdsk. A++++ product

Cons: Nope, can't complain

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very reliable. Has lasted for 5 years without even a hiccup.

Cons: 8MB cache isn't ideal for gaming, not their fault I didn't understand that 5 years ago.

Other Thoughts: Became the bottle neck in my rig until I went SSD. Now it functions as a storage drive quite well.

5 out of 5 eggsA Classic

Pros: I've been using this drive as a boot drive for four and a half years now and it's still going strong.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Can't wait till I can get an SSD and relegate this drive to official storage drive duty.
