5 out of 5 eggsNever Quit..............till now after 8 years

Pros: Long lasting
decent speed for mech

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I leave my PC on 24/7-365 and this HDD has been on since Sept 11th 2008 first as a system drive for 4 years then as my primary data drive transferring movies on and off for the next 4 finally started hearing a tick which turned into a scratch when i would access the drive and had to replace it (don't wanna lose 500 GB of movies). it has been through 3 PC's and i will keep it as a reserve drive in case of a PC Apocalypse

5 out of 5 eggs8+ years and still working

Pros: More reliable than some of the latest parts I own.

Cons: I seem to be missing 40 GB, I guess that's part of the old pc ghost/recovery partition.

Other Thoughts: I pulled this out of an old HP computer I had.

5 out of 5 eggsStill working great after 8 years

Pros: - Still running reliably after 8 years under light to medium load.

Cons: - No negative experiences in 8 years of use.

Other Thoughts: - As I build my new system, I may very well install this into it as a secondary drive, since it's still running great.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT LONG LASTING HDD

Pros: I purchased this HDD wayyy back in 2008 when i purchased new parts for a top of the line computer.. I had it with a C2D 8400 wolfdale and a Asus P5Q P45 motherboard and 4GB of Gskill memory.. I ran that computer up until June of 2015.. So for 7 years lol. And the only reason i didnt upgrade was because it played every game until now at reasonably high details and FPS..

As for the older PC its now sitting in the closet collecting dust.. Not sure if i can sell it for money or something considering its age.. BUT the HDD im still using on my new PC.. I have a 4790K intel cpu, 16GB G.skill memory, Gigabyte g1 Z97 sniper, R9 290 gpu.. I did purchased two new HDD's. I got a Silicon Power SSD because lets face it.. mechanical HDD's are slow compared to SSD's. I also purchased a WD 1TB Black mechanical drive for storage.

I used the SSD for my OS and current games/programs im using. The 1TB WD Black drive is the 2nd fastest drive in my system and i use it for secondary games or programs i use not so often.. And this WD 640 Blue drive im writing the review for is used for storage for everything else.

8 YEARS now i have had this drive come 2016 and it doesnt make a peep ane i have never had a failure

Cons: no cons

4 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: I bought this Hard Drive for my first build computer, and it's still in my computer. 8 years of honest work, with 6.08 years run time. It's nearing the end of its life though, after the 6 year mark I noticed a loud clicking noise every 1/8th of a second or so, it sometimes got loud, sometimes quiet. I feel it's time for its replacement, I would gladly get another Western Digital HardDrive. May try an SSD

Cons: Loud clicking noise near the end of its long life

Other Thoughts: Great harddrive.

5 out of 5 eggsVERY reliable HDD

Pros: What can I say back then when I purchased this HDD "2008" it was one of the fastest hard drives you could buy under the raptors. I still use it in my main system which is also from 2008.. I just recently purchased 1200$ in parts so I will soon only use this HDD as a backup/storage for pictures and so forth..

However the reliability of this HDD cannot be understated 7 years is a very long time... Runs as fast as it did day 1 and hasn't given a single error

Cons: no cons, except its slightly outdated in todays terms

5 out of 5 eggsReliable.

Pros: Power on hours currently at 59980; almost time for the 60k party. That's nearly 7 years of 24/7 uninterrupted service; three system rebuilds, including a SFF that was shipped around the US multiple times in less than ... ideal conditions. Probably the longest running piece of computer hardware that's currently running in my systems.

Cons: 640GB is getting a little small.

Other Thoughts: Western Digital and HGST are the companies to beat in mechanical storage.
