Cons: It worked for 35 months. Warranty was for 36 months so I guess it came close. Had dozens of hard drives over the years and this was my first failure. From what I have read lately about WD drives I guess I've been lucky!
Other Thoughts: I would RMA the drive but don't trust WD to wipe it out for me so a .22 rifle round should do the trick.

Pros: Bought 2 of these several years ago. They're a bit dated, but still running great. Also very quiet.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: WD has been great for me. If I have to buy any more mechanical drives in the future I'd certainly prefer another WD.

Pros: Great drive. Good speeds and acoustics.
Cons: Its is now just starting to die 2 years and a few months later. Smart errors and the drive fails to transfer data.
Other Thoughts: Glad there's a 3 year warrenty. Normally I'd buy another but with the thailand flood I'm going to RMA.

Pros: Not many, it was noisy buy functional from the beginning.
Cons: Started making horrible noises very quickly and became unbearably slow within a year. I am ordering a different brand before this one dies. I have never had a HDD fail before this one.

Pros: cheap
Cons: Drive failed after 3 months. I received a replacement from WD, and it failed one year later. This is not my first run in with bad WD drives.
I have Maxtor and Seagate drives that have been working for the last 8 years. Stick with a brand other than WD.

Pros: I have had 3 of these hard drives installed for over 2 years now without any problems.
Cons: Storage capacity is now mediocre in comparison to newer drives.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend these HDD's if reliability were the prime factor for purchase.

Pros: Bought two of these for a RAID 0. Loading times are fast! Battlefield 2 takes less than 15 seconds from clicking join to killing people. (old game I know, but if you've played it you know loading and verifying client data can take awhile)
Cons: SSD would be faster I'm sure, but these are cheaper.
Other Thoughts: Caviar black may be faster but seriously... meh I saved some $$

Pros: I was cautious enough with this drive to buy the replacement plan, having read the reviews suggesting that these drives tend to arrive with dead sectors or arrive completely dead. I have found that these claims are common among hard drive reviews, and that in my case, they are false. Performs exactly as it should.
Cons: Arrived late but that is not an issue with the product itself.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this drive to anyone who only requires these specifications. That said, the drive is not especially fast. If you wanted that, you'd be looking at a 15000 rpm 64 mb cache drive at 5-30 times this price, wouldn't you?
