5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Works well in my Xbox 360
Games load much faster than a 5400rpm drive with 8mb cache
Never had a problem with a WD drive

Cons: A bit more heat than a stock drive, but we'll within the thermal limits

Other Thoughts: Was it worth it to get a 7200rpm drive over a 5400? To me yes. Other people will argue that the price: speed ration is to bad. All games load faster except for Halo 3 (It's a problem with the way the maps load). I don't know if they ever fixed it but I'll find out in July when Halo 3 is free.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive with a few minor concerns

Pros: This was a fast, reliable drive with high capacity (at the time of purchase). I've owned this drive for a bout 2 years. No issues.

Cons: My drive is a bit noisier than others have reported. For about a year, the drive would make beeping noises and some worrisome clicks, but either by driver or other software update, this seems to have been fixed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat replacement for Xbox360

Pros: Compatible with xbox360 after a little bit of work. You basically have to download 2 programs that rewrite the firmware and adds info the xbox looks for.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsgrinding and chattering - but still running after almost four years

Pros: It's a 7200 RPM drive, so it doesn't run as cool as your typical 5400 RPM drive, and I got it as an upgrade for an HP DV9000 w/an AMD Turion64x2, so the laptop is a little warm most of the time.

This drive's got a 16MB cache and is rated at 3Gbps - that's not too shabby either.

I've had this drive in my laptop for almost four years now I think, running basically 24/7 as a pure Slackware64 -current Linux OS machine.

This laptop is my primary workstation, test server, and running some production server services too, like httpd and MariaDB with about a dozen Drupal websites, gopher, ownCloud, nagios, zabbix, cacti, Sendmail, Dovecot, and a whole bunch of other services too!

It's also a development machine with just about every language, IDE, and editor you can think of like RadRails, Netbeans, Geany, Bluefish, Eric, PyCharm, Eclipse, and I have VirtualBox installed for testing out other OSes and distros, or when I need a quick Wiindows box in a pinch for running Dreamweaver or vSphere Client.

Like I said - 24/7 on a Verizon FiOS connection and dyndns daemons so it's always available on the Internet.

It's a busy, busy, busy little bee, er... box, rather.

I just recently retired the drive (a couple of days ago), I do regular clones of the drive so it was no big deal if it failed, and now I have a brand new 1TB drive (Samsung) with half the cache running at 5400 RPM.

I literally just could not take the noise from this drive any longer! It grinds and clicks and shakes and makes frighteningly loud and terribly awful noises so loud I actually had to turn the TV's volume up!

Then after about 5 to 10 minutes of cringing sounds it would quiet down for a while before going into another gnashing session that would wake up and scare the dog until he got used to it.

That's been going on for about two months now. I'm not kidding about how loud this thing is - you can hear the platters wobbling on the spindle, it sounds like a major and constant head crash too....

And still, the darn thing just won't fail! Once in a while there's a little hiccup or pause, and then the system resumes, but it's just gotten to the point where I really want to install my 1TB drive and be done with the noise.

If you're looking for a laptop HDD that is virtually bullet proof, performs well, and delivers all of that at a good price point... this is the drive for you!

I'm not going to miss the noise this things been making over the last couple of months, but I'm going to miss the drive itself - it's been a really good and reliable friend for a really long time.

Kinda like an old truck :)

Cons: Seriously?

Okay it's ONLY 320 GBytes - hows that for a con? LOL!

Other Thoughts: If I wasn't already running for the past year at almost 95% of capacity, I would have replaced this drive with the exact same model number again!

Even though my so-called "upgrade" to a 1TB HDD is going to give me some serious breathing room, I'm actually downgrading if you think about the fact that I'm only going to have 8MB cache on a 5400 RPM drive - but hey.... it's only an old HP laptop anyway, right?

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: Not so noisy

Cons: Ordered the wrong hard drive thinking it was the 500GB version but still happy with the size for a HTPC. Not Newegg's fault but can't think of any other con.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product!

Pros: This drive is fast, responsive, reliable, and has more than enough storage for my current application.

Cons: little noisy when active but not louder than the dvd drive.

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive to replace my 20gb drive in my xbox 360. With some online documentation and resources I was able to make this drive work flawlessly! I would recommend this product for xbox 360 replacement drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HDD

Pros: This drive certainly shows it's speed. Worked great right out of the box.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a Seagate drive that even though passed diagnostics it was still acting funny. After putting the WD drive in I haven't seen any issues and the speed difference is very noticeable!

2 out of 5 eggsDead after 8 months

Pros: Price.

Cons: Died after only 8 months of use.

Other Thoughts: This is the only Western Digital product I have EVER had an issue with. Luckily I had just acquired a MacBook Pro for school, so it wasn't the end of the world. Sadly, my Seagate 3TB external became corrupted(and has since done it again) about 2 weeks later. So everything was lost because I was too passive in transferring files. (Lucky my important files were on my desktop)
