2 out of 5 eggsUsed Not NEW

Pros: It's almost what I ordered.

Cons: Received a used drive, NOT NEW.

Other Thoughts: This drive was not sold directly by Newegg but by one of their 3rd party vendors. A friend needed a new drive to replace the failing one a Toshiba laptop. I had them order this drive (WD Scorpio Black 320GB) and send it directly to me since I was doing the work. The drive arrived in good shape with no damage. Plugged it up to run diagnostics making sure it had no issues before commencing to install a fresh operating system. This drive already had an operating system loaded with Delll drivers, 24 power up cycles and 10 hours of run time. Diagnostics did confirm the drive was good, but it was USED and NOT NEW. For shame on 3rd party vendor selling used as new.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid hard drive

Pros: Needed this hard drive to replace a failed Seagate drive in a Dell laptop. Formatted and installed Windows 7 to it without any issues. Having 7200 RPMs is definitely worth what little battery life you give up.

Cons: None - running strong after 3+ years.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Good product, easy to install.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: After having my original HD in my laptop die without notice, I purchased this as a replacement. Although I've build desktops in the past, this was my first time working on a laptop. While replacing a HD isn't a monumental task, the project went smoothly and this HD has been working fine ever since it's first boot and install of Windows 7.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive dailing after two years.

Pros: Worked fine for two years.

Cons: Is now failing. On it's way out...

Other Thoughts: I know it's ridiculous to expect drives manufactured in the past half dozen years to last longer than your average underwear, but I have a couple of WD drives from 10-12 years ago that are doing fine. And it's sad that they don't have QC like that any more...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Stephen S., please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may have experienced. Please note that there are many variables that can result in a failed drive, such as power outages, accidental physical damage, and internal component failure, just to name a few. We understand your situation and will gladly replace your in-warranty drive, as we stand by our products and their associated warranties.

5 out of 5 eggs3-4 Years Still Working

Pros: Has great reliability and quicker speed than my original 5400 drive that I replaced. Extremely quite compared to Seagate models I have looked at.

Cons: Too small after having it for 3 years.
