Pros: Newegg packaged these hard drives very well this time. I have gotten hard drives from them that were dead due to back packaging before, but it looks like they have corrected the problem. I hope it continues. Both drives I bought have tested out passed ok with WD diagnostics and are now ready to use. I can't wait till the prices come back down. Good Job Thailand in handling those horrific floods.

Cons: None that I know of. Have better luck with Western Digital than with any other hard drive manufacturer, so will continue to buy them.

Pros: Fast and Reliable. I have two of these drives that i bought here on Newegg in Feb. of 2009 . No issues thus far

Pros: Large, quiet internal drive. Faster than the 750GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 it replaced.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Great double-boxed packing! Outer Box contained peanuts. Inner box, HD perfectly fitted between plastic holders.

Pros: Great price when I bought it back in Jul 2011 and worked fine for the last 6 months.

Cons: Bought this drive in Jul 2011 as part of a new all purpose/everyday use rig. Was working fine up until yesterday when I went to unlock my machine, system could not recognize the drive. Upon rebooting, the drive emitted a loud scratching/static noise and failed to boot. This went on for several reboots until it eventually jumped back into Windows. As of the last few reboots, noise is no longer heard.

Other Thoughts: I've been hesitant to the use the drive and am currently running it through spinrite (taking a really long time at the halfway point) after which I'll try to dump any important files onto a NAS.

Will probably purchase another one and hopefully try to clone the contents of this one onto it.

Pros: Reputable brand (I thought)

Cons: Failed within a few hours. What happened to WD quality.
Now I have to pay shipping for a defective part??????

Pros: Ordered this harddrive for my PC build, works flawlessly.

Cons: None so far.

Pros: It's fast and was easy to partition and format ect...

Cons: It's really loud, everything I do on the computer it clicks and sounds like its going to take off like a rocket.

Other Thoughts: It hasn't failed on me yet but im waiting for it... i think ill rma it first.

Pros: No SMART errors, i have two of these and they run like champs, both of which have been spinning for 1.8 years.
5 year warranty, and WD is good with RMAs.

Cons: Price is high now, got these for $99 a few years ago.

Pros: It was a fast install of win 7 and files transfer

Cons: Failed within 25 startups, a day after OS installation

Other Thoughts: Love the brand, wish this drive wasn't a failure. Going on a deployment, hope to receive a good drive before leaving.

Pros: Compatible with Mac Pro 1.1. Just popped it in, reformatted and cloned from the original hard drive. Quick and painless. Very quite and fast.

Thought I needed to buy a new computer when all I needed was to upgrade the hard drives. Bought 2 of these and it feels like I got a new computer for only a couple hundred bucks.

I know the newer ones are faster and have larger caches, but this was perfect for my workload and heard this version of the Black Caviar was quiet.

Cons: Wish I new about these a couple of years ago when they were much cheaper ;-)
