5 out of 5 eggsAlmost 10 years.

Pros: Long life.
Speed as expected.
Never have any issue with different OS and MB

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: After owning this unit for almost 6 years.
I am very confident to say, this WD HD far exceeded my expectation of a green drive.
It have almost 40,000 hours run time, more than 500 boot count.
I used it for gaming, video storage, and BT download with no problem what so ever, and it is going strong.

3 out of 5 eggsI seem to get the bad ones?

Pros: Every single one of these "Green" WD drives I have purchased in the past have failed on me prematurely (within 2 years). I see many other reviewers reporting 3, 4, even 5 years from these things. Ugh, is it just my luck?

Cons: Don't last long enough.

Other Thoughts: On the other hand, the "Black" and "Red" WD series drives I purchase never break down on me.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality drive

Pros: The drive runs cool and quiet. The speed is perfectly fine for a storage drive. I have had this drive for at least 5 years now. The "power on hours" in the SMART data shows just over 5 years of actual use. This drive has been quiet and reliable. These days it serves as a torrent drive that is seeding 24/7. It has been used int hat capacity for at least a year now. I have never had a single issue with this drive.

Cons: There are no cons. it's not a super fast drive, but it isn't intended to be.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great hard drive. This is the hard drive I use in all my builds as a secondary internal hard drive. Great for storage to keep the main drive less cluttered and running well. First drive has been running great since 04/2011. Like previously stated, sometimes takes a few seconds to boot up, but has worked great for all those years, and is utilized daily.

Cons: Sometimes a touch slow to get up and running in the morning. But utilized solely as an internal storage drive.

1 out of 5 eggsWorking fine up til now

Pros: Was a solid drive

Cons: No warning at all immediate failure. Normally with smart or other drive diags a warning will issue or so sectors start to go etc. Here the drive motor just fails and now all those GB of data is gone.

Other Thoughts: It should have issued a warning of some kind, slow start, delayed start basically spin up issues but there was not a single one.

5 out of 5 eggsStill running 5 years 9 months

Pros: Purchased on 2/13/2009, all 5 original drives still operating in my RAID 5 file server as of 11/17/14. I've been using it for a media server this whole time.

Cons: One of them is starting to make a grinding noise but I just backed up everything. But after this long, I find that quite acceptable.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully I can get some more life out of this and bide my time until the 6TB Red's come down in price. It was $93 (1TB Green) then, why is it $113 now?

5 out of 5 eggsLasted 5 years

Pros: Lasted 5 years

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This drive was run as part of a RAID NAS 24x7x365 for about 5 years. Finally failed after that time. I'm happy with that performance. Never had any issues prior to that. I had another of these drives that failed after about 3 years. I'd like it if they run forever, but for this level of drive, I guess that's what you get.
