IT GOT THE JOB DONE
- Pros: COULDNT BEAT THE PRICE IT LOADS EVERYTHING UP FAST AND ITS QUIET. IT REPLACED MY BAD 40GIG WHICH WAS 5 YEARS OLD

- Pros: Easy to clone existing 100MB HD in Acer Travelmate 4202 using a Rosewill 2.5" external IDE to USB enclosure along with the WD3200BEVE 320MB drive. Utilized Acronis from WD website to partition the HD and cloning the old one. Only issue which was very minor (due to not reading instructions!) was it took me about 10 minutes to figure out I needed to use Windows XP disk management tool to format the drive so it would show up under "My Computer". After that it was a piece of cake. Swapped out the old drive for the new and off and running in about 2 hours, which most was spent cloning the drive.

what to expect. 1a.

low price, these drives were $500 not long ago.
all drives (even back to 1981 IBM XT days) are measured in decimal bytes. 1000. decimal. (this is rotating memory and not binary solid state memory , ok?)
in the computer would it is 1024.bytes. (binary power of 2)
so 1000 divided by 1024 results in less space.!
and so does formatting overhead.
Like a file cabinet has less space just because of the folders. see?
next, do not blame the HDD for being too big when your old PC or lap top has bad BIOS and can not recognize over 137gb,
So partition it and be happy. Move your my documents folder over to the D: (2nd partition) and now you will not lose your data when the next virus wipes you out.
Partitions are good thing,unless editing a full length movie but who does that on an old slow lap top.?
Last be happy that someone still makes PATA drives for all this old Legacy Iron. Cheers ! Thanks WD and Samsung
- Cons: too cheap, should be more ,its worth more.
these drives have weak case and also hate dropping.
so put it in real easy ,do not twist it or press on the bottom or lid !!! DO NOT.
- Other Thoughts: a great product.
before condemning it , test in on another puter.
they also make adapters to test it on a desk top.
so easy to condemn when your laptop is bad.
ask for better packing.
