5 out of 5 eggsSo happy!

Pros: Super fast shipping. Live in NY, shipped from NJ, got next day with basic free shipping. Using drive as we speak as a back up of all my music, videos, photos, class work essays and papers along with everything else i need to have a hard copy backup to.
i dont know it is there its super quiet, fast since i just swapped over 1600 somethign songs in like 5 mins, simplistic black shiny case with white data light is nice touch.

Cons: not usb 3.0. and not less then the 53.99 i paid for it. Wished the usb cord was longer but eh, probably everyone else is happy with the length (thats what she said). In otherwords, There is no cons.

Other Thoughts: for the price it is amazing. the delivery got here so fast that i was shocked that it was at my door. i ordered it YESTERDAY.

3 out of 5 eggsBare Minimum

Pros: It was on sale when I bought it so the price was cheap. Relatively small.

Cons: Had to take it back to the manufactures twice because of clicking (I take very good care of my drives so no mishandling was involved to cause the clicking). 2nd time they upgraded me to the 500gb. I guess they were feeling bad. Its noticeably slow, compared to others in its class.

Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd WD drive, and all 3 have been disappointments. You definitely get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsTiny Workhorse

Pros: Ultraportable lightweight drive, great for backups and for having a "plug-n-go" hard drive to use on multiple/random machines. Travelling a lot hasn't bothered it, even on an airplane with heavy use. It slips in my laptop's backpack bag almost unnoticed and without being bulky. It plugs into other people's computer for demos, etc., without a hitch.

Setup was so simple, you just plug it in and it runs silently and quickly. It delivers up to ~35 MB/sec sustained drive-to-drive data transfer rates for large video files on Windows XP and 7, even with a little Samsung netbook. It is used regularly to sync 10 GB software development sandboxes with ease.

If you keep it attached during WinXP and Win7 standby and hibernation mode transitions it comes back up without errors when you keep it connected. If you want to disconnect it, you should "eject" it before going to standby/hibernate or else Windows will complain.

Cons: Some WinXP64 and Win7-64bit machines won't "eject" the drive, but since other external drive types have the same problem I blame the machine and not the drive. Most machines work fine, especially laptops and netbooks. Bottom line, if you're buying an external drive like this as a step up from a flash drive, the eject might be bothersome. I've ended up yanking the cable when the drive is not being accessed and so far have gotten away with it.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to go buy a couple more now...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent portable drive

Pros: Small, fast, silent and unobtrusive. Bus power has worked perfectly on every machine I've tried it on. I move files between Windows, OS X and Linux hosts all without a miss. Good price for the amount of storage.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've tended to put old HDD in enclosures myself for backup and portable storage. Many of the DIY enclosures seem to have issues getting enough power from the bus, or even with external power have problems staying connected. This is the first USB drive I've had that's been reliable in all conditions. I also like its understated appearance. Seems like many USB drives try to get themselves noticed either through garish looks or excessive LEDs.

2 out of 5 eggsmisleading

Pros: inexpensive, name brand, fast delivery

Cons: software to perform auto backup and partial backups costs extra. this was not disclosed and amounts to 50% of the purchase price of the hardware. when was the last time we bought something where the full price was disclosed up front ? is every american business a bank ?

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: I purchased this hard drive for back up purposes, and it's been working great.

Cons: I wish it had it's own power supply rather than getting juice through USB.

Other Thoughts: This is a cheap and easy solution for storage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat hard drive.

Pros: Small footprint, light weight, no extra power cord to worry about. and plenty of space for me. It stays nice and cool when in use.

Cons: A bit slower then a 7200 RPM drive, but not slow enough to be a problem. I backed up 23GB of music in about 20 mins. The LED light is bright, but I just touched it up with a blue sharpie lol toned it down and is a cool blue now.

Other Thoughts: Fast shipping Newegg... thanks.
