5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Fast, runs moderately cool.

Not a con; I knew this before purchasing it...
If you are installing this in a Non-Gaming laptop, it will drain your laptop pretty quickly.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks, medium performance increase

Pros: perfect physical fit, higher rotation speed is not felt while working on laptop, not lowed.

Cons: can't think of any, perhaps better seek time and bigger cache.

Other Thoughts: Got it for laptop drive replacement which was perceived as too slow (plus had only 5400 rotation speed).

New drive, with reinstalled windows, did increase speed, perhaps as much as 25%.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent hard drive from WD

Pros: Very fast and quiet. Boosted my WEI from 4.5-5.4. I installed this hard drive and then installed Windows 7. An excellent boost in speed over Vista. I know that WIn 7 would help, but the difference was amazing!!! The stock drive on my '07 Dell E1705 was a Seagate Momentus 7200 100Gb. Much faster!!! SiSandra test reveled a 55.15 Mb/s read speed & in the top 82%. Cold boot time was minutes faster. Some credit does go to Win7!!! Use on battery time seems longer also by about 30 mins. This drive is a winner!!!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Very inexpensive. I was going to add a SSD. I think it would be a waste of $400-$600. Good upgrade for older laptops, for the money. This Dell is simple amazing now! Anyone one who would cry on the internet about this hard drive probably needs his blankey and mommy a lot!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Laptop HDD ever

Pros: Fast, quiet, cool. Works with Thinkpad T61 sensors. Simply the best hard drive i have ever owned.

Cons: I should have bought the bigger one :(

Other Thoughts: Seriously, this thing rips and doesn't suck your battery.

Pros: none.

Cons: Don't get caught up in the Western Digital hype! They are not what they once were and have become low-grade junk like most other companies too big for their britches. Some clips from

"These are some real problems experienced by WD2500BJKT and Western Digital hard drives in general that we see in our lab."

"When it comes to data recovery one of the most common problems Western Digital(WD) hard drives experience is burnt cuircuit board(PCB). WD drives are very vulnerable to overheating, power surges and streaks."

"All Western Digital hard drives are also well-known for their firmware problems. "

Other Thoughts: Read the negative comments before buying and you'll see allot are complaining of failure, noise and vibration.

4 out of 5 eggsGood price and performance - save quality

Pros: Quick boot, good transfer rates, passes all diagnostic tests. Unit incorporates shock detection and works well with IBM/Lenovo ThinkVantage Active Protection System.

Cons: Idle noise output could be much less and platter balance could be better. This laptop HDD is as loud as a T60 system fan. Also, the unit gets a little more than warm during file intensive operations (outside of the laptop and exposed to ambient room temperature).

Other Thoughts: As always the concern is for reliability and longevity in a HDD. Price, storage, performance, etc... drove this purchase. Preference for another brand still holds but that option was not available at the time.
