3 out of 5 eggsGet an internal

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Large drive, not a huge cost, decent read/write speeds. Can handle some punishment due to its casing, but it's still just a hard drive.

Cons: Large, unstackable, and not even supposed to place on a desktop case. Also was a bit overpriced for an external drive, but the WD brand name was alluring.

5 out of 5 eggs18 months later...

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Quiet
Low Maintenance

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: most times, I don't feel like writing a review of a product, unless im bothered by it. With this drive, and the comments about another WD drive being so bad, I thought I would share my view about this product.

I bought this drive 18 months ago from newegg, and have done nothing. It backs up my server 2x a day and has for the last 18 months flawlessly.

Im happy with it, although the time has come to replace it with a larger version, and in researching my options I noticed a lot of hate toward WD external drives, which I have the opposite opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent external hard drive

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: The external hard drive has worked great for over a year now. I use it to keep backups of my photos and raw video camera footage.

Cons: The only con I can think of is that it requires an external power supply. I knew that when I bought it though.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy with it

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Three years into this as a backup drive for a relative. It's on 24/7 and has never had an issue. Quiet, quick enough for it's purpose and survived a 3' drop onto a brick floor on more than one occasion.

Cons: Nope

Other Thoughts: Does what it was bought for, day in and day out. Rock solid reliable

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive. Need new AC adapter

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Solid build, functions as it should. Had no problems

Cons: The AC adapter cord ripped after extended use. Went on WD website and bought a replacement. However, it wasn't the same model and some numbers didn't match. I got the slow blinking light and it doesn't appear in device manager. I need a replacement GPK Systems AC adapter

4 out of 5 eggsStill Going 4 / 5 yrs later, Under HEAVY USE

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Not to Shabby and a Great Deal when I bought it in 2010. It has been a strong performing device and USED A LOT in the past 4 almost 5 years. Not the fastest, but it's fast enough. That's technology though.. Buy it today and it's old tomorrow..

Cons: The only thing I do not like is the fact that it sometimes
( MOST TIMES ) will not disconnect using the hardware removal Icon. It rarely wants to spin down and let go, even when I can find NOTHING using it in my task manager. IDK, Maybe it's me. I'm not a Tech Geek, I know just enough.

Other Thoughts: I was just looking at my dashboard and realized I never put a review up. I PRAY I did not put the KISS of DEATH on my HD now that I wrote this ??

5 out of 5 eggs2+ years ownership

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: 2+ years of use with no issues, with weekly usage. Used in harsh environments, both cold and hot, for large and small file transfers and backups. Also has been fully encrypted numerous times for various projects, formatted full and quick even more times, and semi-abused in travel with no apparent issues.

Cons: Cost (current) - I think this still costs about the same it did for me 2 years ago.. shouldn't it be under $100 now?
