Other Thoughts: Can capture video without frame loss as long as its connected to the motherboard sata ports.

Pros: Fast transfer rates, quiet performance

Cons: Suddenly failed, as hard drives sometimes do.

Other Thoughts: WD is generally reliable. This hasn't happened very often in over 15 years building computers.

Pros: Always a great value

Cons: Not as fast as an SSD

Other Thoughts: I've used over a dozen of the WD Black Series drives without a single problem. They'll continue to be my go-to platter drive as long as SSDs stay too expensive.

Pros: Detected right away, ran great for about 3-4 months then died

Cons: Died after roughly 4 months of usage as a storage drive, ran WD's Digital Data Lifeguard extended test and came back as a fail. was hoping this HD would last for at least 2 years, very dissapointed

Pros: Plenty of space, great price

Cons: Drive started off quickly but within a few months a small click started. A few months later the clicking got worse and it has begun to cause the system to hang on large file jobs.

Other Thoughts: I have used this drive for two years so far as my primary OS drive. It is now being replaced due to my need for more storage but I would likely buy one again for a media server or other system that does not need constant, heavy file operation.

Pros: I used this drive as my main drive for over 3 years. Knock on wood, I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I had all of my pictures, and software installed on it and its solid rock !

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Since I got an SSD for my OS, I use this drive for storage only, and sometimes takes more than 6-7 sec to kick in afte idling.
Make sure you handle HDD's with care as it would extend lifetime significantly !

Other Thoughts: Before ordering one of these, I had an old Seagate SATA II drive that had served me well for a few years, but I figured it was a good time to expand my amount of storage. I wish I would have taken into account the satisfaction I had gotten from my Seagate when purchasing a new drive because, as the title of this review states, I'm not at all impressed with this drive, especially in comparison to my Seagate.

The first of these drives I ordered arrived with bad sectors. However, the problem didn't become apparent until after I had used it for about a week or two and had accumulated a large amount of data on it. My first step was to attempt to fix these bad sectors. After having Windows repair the drive, everything seemed fine - for a while. I was sad to find out that the problem persisted. I tried repairing the drive a couple more times, but was without success. I finally decided to back up the drive and send it back. Only problem was it wouldn't back up properly. All of the data I had put on it was lost. I must say, though, that the RMA process from WD was much more satisfying than most of my other experiences with returns. The replacement arrived quickly and without hassle.

The second drive works much better. No bad sectors, no issues. That said, it's loud. Very loud. Because I'm not too educated on how a hard drive should function, I assumed that was the price to pay for a higher performance hard drive. Then I tested it. I found that it had speeds only marginally faster than my old Seagate, which I should mention is almost entirely inaudible.

Conclusion: I don't plan on purchasing any more WD drives. If I have to get another hard drive before eventually going to SSD, it'll be a Seagate.

Pros: Well... seeing how the 1st one arrived DOA & the 2nd just died, what positive can I say except for Newegg's prompt attention & concern - 5egg's to them & their service

Cons: since I'm now paying for data recovery - yes, backups are something I preach preach preach, then I waited a couple weeks past norm. Lost Billings so hope they can be recovered! 2of 2 is not a good statistical record so will have to ask the data recovery folks who they DO NOT SEE!
