Pros: Fast, reliable, quiet. Have 2 of these installed 3 years now, and no problem whatsoever. No bad sectors yet. Highly recommend.

Pros: Good solid reliable Hard Drive. Great for loading games. Consistant performance in reads and writes even after 2 years.
Reads faster than any other 7200RPM HDD i used.

Cons: Bit loud. Nothing to extreme though fairly noticable over a WD Blue 10EZEX.

Other Thoughts: May not have the best wriing performance as the WD Blue is 30-40MB/s faster. When loading applications/games there is a significant reduced wait time.

Pros: Very fast, quiet, a lot of storage.

Cons: After 6 months of use this drive started to fail. RMA process was very fast and easy. Have had the replacement in for almost 1.5 years now no problems.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these running in my PC right now with no issues. Docked one egg because the initial unit had issues. Would still highly recommend.

Pros: Worked fine while it lasted.
Great customer service from Western Digital.

Cons: Had to RMA in under one year because of too many bad sectors.

Other Thoughts: I guess that my luck was bad, because my drive didn't even last one year. RMA'd the drive and Western Digital sent me a replacement in the same week. Without the great customer service I probably would have given one star but it makes a big difference to know that the company will honor the warranty in a timely fashion.

2 out of 5 eggsMaking crunching sounds after 9 months...

Pros: It's a fast hard drive.

Cons: It started making crunching sounds in only 9 months.

Other Thoughts: I bought this hard drive in December 2013 and now it's making crunching sounds less than a year later. It's being used as a data drive, so it should have held up better than my Seagate drive I'm using as a system drive. I'd expect a $50 drive to die after a year and a half of the same usage, but a $230 drive should last at LEAST 3 years before showing signs that it's about to die.

Pros: Great hard drive and pretty fast for your standard 7200 RPM HD. Pretty quiet and kept cool.

Cons: Finally gave out today and was hoping it would have last longer than 3 years but it is still a good run for a $60 hard drive.

3 out of 5 eggsFinally Died

Pros: High Capacity. Good brand. High performance. 90$~ purchase price when I bought it 4 years ago.

Cons: The HDD finally died. This is after 4 years of use. To be fair, for the last 2 years I experienced BSODs and have spent the time since then replacing parts and troubleshooting the issue. BSODs were pointing to ntoskrnl.exe which usually indicates a hardware malfunction or drivers needing updated. Every piece of hardware has been replaced except the CPU and HDD. I imagine if it was the CPU then I would experience more issues, instead of BSODs every now and then. The hard drive does have a 5 year warranty and I am hoping it will be covered for a replacement. Even if they do not cover it, I will stick with WD because I know things like this happen, and the drive did work very well for the first few years.

Pros: I've had several of these. Back when I purchased them you couldn't beat it. They were about $70/ea. and They have run like champs since day 1 and continue to. Once I fill them up they either sit in my PC and run all day, or in external enclosures and run whenever I need to pull something off them.

Cons: None. Maybe, size. With capacities growing and growing, it's maybe considered small but I don't like to invest in huge 4TB drives. I feel the 1TBs are more reliable.

Pros: When they are working, they seem to be all they're hyped up to be. RMA process is very good, although I wouldn't expect to have to use it on new drives.

Cons: Where do I start.... Ordered 2 of these for a new desktop build and set one drive up as a clone of the other. These were to be used purely as file storage. Right out of the box 1 drive was good and the other had SMART errors. RMA'd the bad drive to Newegg and got the replacement within a week. Fastforward a few weeks and the other original drive started receiving SMART errors. RMA'd that back to WD and got the replacement drive. Guess what... that drive was bad too so back to WD it went.

Other Thoughts: If I had to do it all over again, I would look elsewhere as to WD. The RMA process for both Newegg and WD was pretty simple and straight forward. To go through 3 bad drives to find 2 good ones seems like the quality control isn't there. I had my operating system running off a SSD and at least had 1 good drive operational while this all took place. The first 2 months of the PC build were rough due to these drives but haven't had any issues for the last 4 months.

Pros: High performance, Solid quality, Pretty quiet for a mechanical HDD.

Other Thoughts: Again its high performance and high quality HDD = $$$

Prices have gone up since i purchased this item, it was much cheaper then.
