Great buy. Got 2 of these drives on sale for 75 a piece and took a risk and threw them into a RAID 0. Boy for what people ...

1 out of 5 eggsNot one good word to say

Pros: Didn't set off the smoke detector or damage any other system components.

Cons: Purchased 4 of these for a FreeNAS soft RAID 5. Upon discovering that they were not RAID-compatible (long error recovery cycle causes RAID software to think the drive has died), I decided to use them as individual volumes. Of course, since they're Advanced Format, I had to play with the partition alignment to get decent performance.
After all that, one drive failed hard the first day and a second failed hard the following week.

Other Thoughts: Although the RMA process is relatively painless, I'm still out 20 bucks in return shipping so far!
I am no longer comfortable buying "bare" or "oem" products from this seller.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: I always buy WD because the are the best. The drive runs great, no problems, excellent performance!

Cons: All I got to say is that I would love to open up my own computer website business but Newegg would put me OUT of business!!!

Other Thoughts: If you want a 1 GB HD, this is the one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Price, Good HDD

Pros: Good price-per-MB. Runs cool and quite as the DVR drive in my HTPC. Much faster than my WD Eco-Green HDD with good reliability (24/7 usage for three months). Overall a great 1TB HDD for the price.

Cons: Runs hotter than my other WD Eco-Green 1TB and Samsung F2 1TB drives. The seek noise during extended-use or HDD-intensive tasks is noticeable over the standard HTPC "hum" while watching TV at a normal level. Middle-of-the-road performance for a "Prestige-Brand-Name" HDD.

Other Thoughts: This is a good drive for the price, especially if used as an non-OS drive. It's not the fastest nor the coolest running, but it is reliable and carries WD and Newegg's great customer service.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product, good price

Pros: Arrived well packaged. Quick easy installation, replacing my dying Seagate hard drive. Nice to get a product by fast shipment at a really good price and experience no problems at all with it.

Cons: None (so far at least).

2 out of 5 eggsBought two. 1 DOA, 1 freezing

Pros: Fairly cheap when I bought it, so I got 2.

Cons: Never had any problems with WD drives or Newegg, but this time they delivered a dead drive to me. I had to pay return shipping to get this broken drive that they sent me back to them. (-2stars on newegg)

Meanwhile, the first drive is starting to act weird. It freezes occasionally, makes me worried... (-1star)

Other Thoughts: I copied 900GB data from my first drive to my second one. Transfer rate was at 90mb/s average.

The packing was okay. Could spend an extra 4-5 seconds to put the paper on top AND bottom of the drive, instead of just the top.

1 out of 5 eggsReally, really not good

Pros: Quiet and low vibration but this is where it ends.

Cons: The disk started to die slow death. I am getting I/O error and I am slowly losing files including pictures of my kids grow. Good thing I have them stored on the servers but what a pain to go to build the drives and the system.

Other Thoughts: WD drives used to be excellent in fact I still have 40GB running for me from 5 years ago. Anything above 500GB seems to be insurmountable for WD. We buy this HDD to store information not to use a temp cache.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Was an easy install and works great. Moved my files from my Steam account about 200GBs in about 15-20 minutes without a hiccup and my games load a little bit faster then on my WD Caviar Green edition.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Definitely pleased and should have enough room to last me a while great deal for $65. Shipping was fast and free as always my favorite thing about new egg.

3 out of 5 eggsWhat packing?

Pros: It arrived timely.

Cons: I ordered everything to build a new gaming computer. When I got everything it was just tossed in a huge box and some paper stuffing on top. The box looked like it had gone through world war 1 and all the corners and sides were dented in. The reason that is significant is the harddrive was just tossed in a static bag and placed in the box. No real bubble wrap or seperate box. Just the harddrive in a bag loose through the whole shipping process.

Other Thoughts: I'm giving the product 3 eggs because the product itself was nicely priced and I happen to like the product as a whole. But the shipping method alone leaves me uneasy that this device will last as long as it should. I will have to update this as I go with it.
