1 out of 5 eggsThere are other hard drives out there

Pros: It was inexpensive. The replacement seems ok now.

Cons: The first one I received had bad sectors which caused a head ache installing windows 7 and ultimately lead to unacceptable operation with errors often in the OS. This was a drive ordered for someone else to be installed by myself so when the issues arose it took more time getting the PC back to the owner. I ended up going to best buy and getting a cheap Seagate for 50 bucks, which installed fine and I have not heard back from the owner regarding the drive in over a year.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for but if the quality control isn't the greatest I feel 40 dollars would have been more reasonable for a budget hit or miss 500GB drive. Price 69.99 ~2013

The replacement drive now sits on the bench in case I absolutely NEED to use it for something.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, excellent price.

Pros: Quiet, reasonably fast. Excellent price. No issues after about a month of use. Well matched to the laptop it went into.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a bad drive in an H/P Probook. This drive is well suited to the task. I've been very satisfied with WD drives.

1 out of 5 eggsit cratered

Pros: was good spun up well, and I didn't have any problems with writing to it.

Cons: it died after two months just sitting on the table not even doing anything pc at idle, the drive started making a buzzing noise then stopped spinning.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Not much really, never worked-twice.

Cons: I ordered 1 of these and when i put it in my laptop and started up a operating system disk i got blue screen telling me an error had occurred and to remove any hard drives. I got an RMA processed and sent it back for a replacement, the replacement makes a strange buzzing noise and doesn't run at all. Its to late to get another replacement and I'm tired of paying for shipping anyway.

Other Thoughts: I have been more than satisfied with other newegg products, it just seems this particular hard drive just isn't something they are capable with. I place the blame on the item itself this model is a dud.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsAnother happy client

Pros: Wasn't DoA
got a clients laptop back on it's feet
seemed fast for a 5400 rpm drive

Cons: none for what it is

Other Thoughts: Not much to say, it's a 5400 rpm disk drive. Ordered it upon clients request to replace a burnt 250gb WD laptop drive after his soon used it on a bed for 4 hours surprised the CPU didn't cook. Talked with Client one week and then one month later happy to report no problems with the laptop, and still haven't heard of any after 3 months.

1 out of 5 eggsInferior drives form Western Digital

Pros: Purchased an Asus laptop in December 2011 here on Newegg. Never had a WD drive in any my computers. I'm surprise that this drive didn't even last 2 years. I see I'm not the only one having an issues. Unbelievable.

Cons: Drive died way to early.
