5 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: cheep i decided to update my review i couldn't take the slow USB 2.0 for long so out of the box came the 2 drives i got and they turned out to be green drives into a mediasonic 4 bay pro-box dock connected to e-sata controller and now they are fast cool quiet and working like a drive should good speeds great buy

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: make sure to get extended warranty

4 out of 5 eggsRight price

Pros: CHEAP i got 2 of them for $75 each that would be the biggest pro they are usb 2.0 i expected them to be a bit slow and they are just that however for my use that isnt a problem they are silent and run cooler then i expected and above all they were cheap i was sure to put the 2 year replacement warranty on them just in case for refurbs im happy with them excellent bang for the buck

Cons: they hang the computer for about 1 min or so when it starts im not sure if its the drives or the modified thin client NAS server they are on not a problem for me its never turned off except for updates and the occasional cleaning and takes them a few seconds to wake up from standby still not a problem

Other Thoughts: The 1 per customer 48 hour cool down on the purchase of the 2nd one was truly annoying i would say that was the biggest con for me

4 out of 5 eggsGreat storage drive / Bad primary usage drive

Pros: Being that I got this drive for quite the bargain, I can't complain about it too much. That in itself is a pro. The drive itself is quick, cool, and makes for a great long term storage drive.

Cons: Minus one egg for it being so slow to wake up. Once it's awake its plenty fast and pretty standard for a 7200rpm USB2.0 drive... once its awake. I'm not kidding here. It takes literally 5 seconds sometimes for it to wake up and display files after long periods of being inactive.

Other Thoughts: First one I got was DOA. No affect on the eggs since that's something that happens from time to time with recertified drives. Naturally the egg quickly sent me a new one and all was well. Overall it was a great buy. I'm a photographer, so this drive makes a great drive to store photos on that I'm currently working on. Since the access times are good while its awake, it doesn't really affect my workflow. However, it's something to keep in mind if you are going to be actively using it frequently as anything other than just a storage drive.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lots of space for a nice price

Cons: After 3 months of owning it crapped out. I took it out of the case and plugged it in. Works like a champ. Definitely an issue with the external connection.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent product, does what it supposed to do. Transfer rater is average 2.0 usb speed cheap high quality 2tb harddrive.

Cons: The same as all other 3.5 drives needs to be plugged the wall for power. Not really a con its what's expected of a 3.5 size drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price

Pros: Price

Cons: A power switch would have been nice, but pulling the plug is not that difficult.
The furnished USB cable is a bit short.

Other Thoughts: For the price, its a great value. $100 for 2 TB. It seems to be performing ok.
I really don't have an issue with purchasing returns. After all, they have been checked out. Whereas new items have not. (I have received DOA products in the past.)
I remember purchasing my first hard drive after the one in my computer crashed a few days after the warranty expired it was a 10 MB drive and the cost was over $500 (in the mid 80s).
