2 out of 5 eggsLoud

Pros: The drive still works, it was fast for a hard drive. It is only the 74gb model which was only useful for speed.

Cons: Loud and almost impossible to stop the drive from making noise.

Other Thoughts: Dont buy Velociraptor drives if you want a silent pc.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Worked flawlessly. Just reformat and go. No issues so far with this Drive.

Cons: Wasnt lucky enough to get the 300Gb like others? Other than that, none.

Other Thoughts: Drive works exactly like it should. No issues like others reported, but every drive will not perform the same. I received a 6.0 on this drive by WEI.

5 out of 5 eggsEL74 Since 2004

Pros: Fast
Reliable

Cons: Small capacity

Other Thoughts: Great 10k rpm HDD. I've had mine since 2004, and haven't seen any problems with it. Have windows on it and it boots pretty fast. It has a nice deep read/write tone. =P

5 out of 5 eggsVery Awesome!

Pros: 1. Very fast!!
2. Very quite!
3. Looks awesome!
4. Very effective cooler the drive sits in. Works very well.
5. 10,000rpm and it is dead quite for me when it is under heavy load.
6. Probably the BEST choice if you are not ready to take the plunge into SSD's.
7. very reliable!

Cons: 1. this drive being recertified had me worried. WD ALWAYS comes through for me though!!

Other Thoughts: I already have another 150gb WD VelociRaptor drive that is amazing. I needed this little guy for some of my games I have as space was starting to get a bit tight on my 150gb.

I was gonna get an SSD but I cannot justify spending all that money for something so small. I mean come on. The price per GB is still just plain stupid.

The Raptor drives are still VERY fast for anything you can throw at them. You WILL NOT be disappointed in getting any of the Raptor drives!!

5 out of 5 eggsOne of my first newegg purchases

Pros: Unless you pick a bad apple, this guy will last you forever. Still pretty decent speed even compared to other modern hard drives. Its current price range makes it worth a look--definitely worth the difference in speed from those old WD blue 80GB drives.

Cons: Can be a little loud compared to other drives. It's still fast, but its heyday is long gone: modern WD Black drives usually outperform it now.

Other Thoughts: This is just a first-gen SATA device (1.5Gb/~150MB/sec) and not a SATA II as the description says. It really doesn't matter much, since even modern mechanical SATA drives are rarely sustained transfers of over 150MB/sec, but I thought I'd point it out.

I got mine around 2006, my first SATA drive purchase. At the time it was extremely fast, but I'm impressed more with its longevity. Three computers later I'm still using it as my C: drive. As I usually leave my computer on all the time this is an even more impressive feat. I will most likely replace it with SSD for my next PC, but I'll probably use this for another year or two before retiring it.

5 out of 5 eggs7 years and still using it!

Pros: Faster then what you normally expect from a HDD, my load times on games were faster then my friends sitting right next to me when we lannned. I bought mine in 2005 and it's still running. Getting ready to retire it for an SSD.

Cons: Kinda loud

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 56 days of normal use

Pros: "was" fast

Cons: This drive lasted from Christmas day until 2/19. This translates to just slightly longer than the 90-day warranty, given that I purchased it in advance to build a computer that I was gifting to family at Christmas.

Other Thoughts: The only long-lasting part is the 3.5" to 2.5" heatsink adapter which I can reuse. Certainly not worth the price tag though.

Purchased a Caviar Black WDBAAZ0010HNC-NRSN as a replacement with some gift cards. Lesson learned is to avoid these refurbished drives.
