Western Digital WD Blue WD7500AALX 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Pros: Arrived with other components bundled and packed perfectly. I had absolutely no problems with this drive. Perfect inside and out, no bad sectors or anything after 7 months of operation. The drive is nice an quiet too in a case with only two system fans. Runs Win 7 63 bit very quickly, files transfers are fast. This isn't on a gaming machine so dropping down to 32MB cache has worked out great.

Cons: Doesn't make my coffee in the morning.

Other Thoughts: When the trees move back and forth, does that make the wind blow?

Other Thoughts: Bought this drive on May 1 to replace a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 that bricked itself in an Acer desktop used for our entertainment center. The WD drive installed flawlessly, allowed reinstallation of operating system and apps. The drive lives in an entertainment center cabinet, so I believe that the fact that it runs cooler than the WD Black drives will be an advantage. So far, so good...

Pros: - Fast
- Low heat (30-40 celsius, peaking at 42 celsius under high IO load)
- 32 MB cache
- SATA III (6.0Gb/s)

Other Thoughts: - Drive reports a gigabyte size of 698 GB; technically it's only a 700 GB at best. This is because of how manufacturers measure the size of a drive; 1000 vs. 1024 as well as bit vs. byte.

Pros: Great drive, use it with win 7 and for games. Have had it for 6 months with no problems.

Cons: None, wish i would have bought one with more space :D. However, this was a great deal price/space.

Pros: If it worked, it was a good price for the size and proformance.

Cons: used the Image software to migrate OS from old drive to new one and went I booted, it was corrupt. I then booted to the old drive and ran the Data LifeGuard and it was unable to read sectors. Total time, 2 hours.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was very understanding and made the process of getting a new drive very painless. It is no faults of Neweggs. computer parts quality have been falling off in the last few years and newegg is not to fault for that.

Pros: I've had this for over a month now and the speeds for SATA III are superb if you don't want a SSD. I got it on sale for $80, and that's a great price considering the high demand and low quantity because of the flooding.

Cons: None yet, no problems and the diagnostics showed no problems at all.

Pros: Quiet

Worked for one month then the BIOS could not read the drive. It showed up as SATA1:No Drive (or some mess)

Called Western Digital and am in the beginning of sending for a replacement.

Pros: 2nd review- Yay, this one worked. It installed smooth as silk. I gave this review 4 eggs which will offset my previous 1 egg review a bit.

Cons: The first one was doa.

Other Thoughts: Western Digital needs to improve their quality control. Reading the other reviews on this product reveals that there are many shipped with issues similar to mine.

Pros: None so far, the drive would not format Windows 7. Reading the Western Digital FAQ reveals that this is an indication of a defective drive. I have an RMA, the drive has been received by Newegg and I am awaiting resolution.

Cons: DOA drive.

Other Thoughts: I hope the replacement works, or else I may request another brand.

I miss Maxtor.

Cons: Should have checked the feedback! I ordered it over 30 days ago for a new PC i'm building. It didn't want to load Windows 7 but finally did. Then started having problems, downloaded WD diagnostics, said it was bad. Good thing is WD RMA process. they shipped a new drive the same day!
