1 out of 5 eggsSlow Shipping, Old Drives

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Decent price for old technology

Cons: Old stock! 1 Drives dated Dec 10 2012 and 1 dated Mar 30 2013. When I tried to register the drives at Western Digital I was told they are out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest not buying old drives, instead insist on current drives that actually have a warranty

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I was looking for

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Fast for spindle drive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Arrived faster than expected in only 2 days. Tested all 3 drives immediately and found that they had never been plugged in and were in fact new.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works....

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: It's a hard drive.
It works.
It's not a 5400.
I've never had a problem with it.

Cons: I should have bought a bigger drive. 250gb goes much faster than it seems like it should when you play games.

Other Thoughts: I was going to take off an egg but then I realized that my only problems are my fault for buying a smaller drive than I should have. OOps.

4 out of 5 eggsBackup drives

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I have a Raid-1 system in the PC that I built a few years ago. I had originally purchased 3 Hitachi drives (2 in Raid, third for backup). 2 of the 3 lasted 5 years. Decided to pick up a couple of extra drives for future replacements. These drives were installed in December of 2014 and have been running since.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsDied on me

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: I placed the hard drive in my computer case until I got the other parts I needed to build the PC. I finally get the parts and try to install windows and all of a sudden the drive is full of bad sectors and unusable.

Pros: Easy to install and works fine.

Cons: Just average for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsHDD

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Good, stable SATA hard drive, works well.

Cons: It was OEM, so no cables, manual or mounting screws. Doesn't brew coffee or fetch the paper.

Other Thoughts: Smallish HDD by current standards but fits my needs for now, planning on adding a SSD later. Came in an anti-static bag which was in a box, don't be scared off by 'bare drive', it was clothed appropriately :-) If you don't need cables or screws, this is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks so far

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I am writing this based on my past experience with WD hard drives.

I have never had a WD hard drive fail; I don't expect this to be the first.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: If I recall, I will update this review after the drive has actually been with me and in use for a while. I reformatted it twice due to faulty data already and no problems. The big test will come when it is the main OS drive.
