3 out of 5 eggsjust average

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Easy to install and works fine.

Cons: Just average for the price.

Other Thoughts: prize should be lower. 32mb cache prize is close and with higher capacity

5 out of 5 eggsHDD

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Good, stable SATA hard drive, works well.

Cons: It was OEM, so no cables, manual or mounting screws. Doesn't brew coffee or fetch the paper.

Other Thoughts: Smallish HDD by current standards but fits my needs for now, planning on adding a SSD later. Came in an anti-static bag which was in a box, don't be scared off by 'bare drive', it was clothed appropriately :-) If you don't need cables or screws, this is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks so far

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I am writing this based on my past experience with WD hard drives.

I have never had a WD hard drive fail; I don't expect this to be the first.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: If I recall, I will update this review after the drive has actually been with me and in use for a while. I reformatted it twice due to faulty data already and no problems. The big test will come when it is the main OS drive.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget HDD

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: -WD quality. They never disappoint.
-Affordable.
-Great packaging. I know it seems weird to comment on that, but I've seen so many PC's and PC components get destroyed in the process of shipping, it's worth noting.

Cons: -Not as fast as my 5 year old WD Black or my Seagate 'Cuda, but I knew that going in. If you want something a little faster, go with one of those (or even an SSD) and spend a few extra bucks. This was for a budget build for grandpappy, and he wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

Other Thoughts: Great drive for the price. Impressed with WD, as usual.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Doesn't work

Cons: Doesn't work, waited for this drive to build a new computer, didn't work! Clicking / whirring noise, very loud and annoying, system would not detect drive and install Windows!

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: None

Cons: Broke after 7 months of use started clicking junkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk don't buy mechanical drives for your main driver and if you can afford it don't buy for back up either all junk get small mechanical drives that way their is less movement if you want to back up information not small in size just in capacity. Better yet just get a solid state drive way better

Other Thoughts: Western digital junk

5 out of 5 eggsNo Issues

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: 1- Quiet
2- Two year warranty
3- SATA 6 capable
4- All three drives I own work perfectly @ 1 year use

Cons: 1- OEM means no mounting screws, no SATA cable, or instructions
2- Usually overpriced

Other Thoughts: I have owned three of these drives for right at one year including my own PC and have not had any issues. If you can purchase this drive for $48.00 to $50.00 it's a good deal; however it is usually overpriced.

1 out of 5 eggsUnacceptable failure rate

This review is from: Western Digital Blue WD2500AAKX 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I was able to recover some of the data from the dead drive.

Cons: First one died after 9 months. Needed a quick replacement so I purchased another. Second drive died after 1 day, getting a RMA replacement from Newegg. I have to send the first drive back to WD. I will be out an additional $21 shipping for a $50 drive.

Other Thoughts: Quality from all hard drive manufacturers has gone down the last several years. This won't improve with the increase in SSD sales.

Manufacturer Response:
