5 out of 5 eggsGood and Stable

Pros: Fast, stable, solid, and quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've used this in a few builds, and it's been working not only for me. But for them as well, even my family has been using them nearly everyday!

1 out of 5 eggsSeriously!?

Pros: Worked for about a week

Cons: The drive died and started making scratching noises and it sounded like it was powering on and off over and over!

Other Thoughts: I am done with Western Digital! Going back to Seagate! At least all 3 of my 1tb Seagate drives still work! Western Digital has been on my bad side for now on!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Drive, works great so far.

Pros: Drive arrived only two days after ordering, despite using free shipping! Shipment Box and the Drive itself (packed in an ESD bag) arrived in perfect condition.

Cons: None so far.
Should any issues come up, I will update my review.

Other Thoughts: Unpacked the drive, plugged it into my PC, and installed Windows 7 64-bit within 10 minutes onto the drive without any issues. The drive gives 931GB Available (really 915GB after Windows 7 files are in.) Windows Disk Properties lists Capacity at: 1,000,097,181,696 bytes.

Windows Experience Index (that gives your hardware ratings) only rates this drive a 5.9 for Disk Data Transfer Rate. While I feel this is sufficient and have no complaints, it is the lowest score on my rig.

In the first three days I had massive file transfers onto the drive (roughly ~630,000 files at 580GB). Afterwards the drive is still running fast, smooth, and quiet.

Just a reminder to beginners that this is an OEM drive, meaning no cables/jumpers/anything come with it, just the drive itself. This keeps the cost down.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: reliable,,, haven't had a single problem.
initial read speed is above 130MB/s which is good for a mechanical HDD. Its silent,, no noise. makes virtually no heat at all.
1TB is enough space for the average user. i can install every game i own on it and still have room for all my music

Cons: HDD price isn't back down to where it should be yet. but this isn't a problem specific to this drive..
this drive is priced really well compared to the other drives available right now.

Other Thoughts: I often read reviews on here by individuals claiming to have used drives in a office environment and saying a very high percentage of them failed within a short time. i know that many of you readers see the numbers *7 out of 8* and think to yourself. avoid this drive!! well i am telling you that its not the drives at all.. its simply that the builder has tried to save money on all of the computers they built by buying cheap power supplies. the powersupply's job is to provide a nice clean source of power for all the parts. however a cheap powersupply does a bad job of it, and can often produce nasty spikes of power that is stressful to computer parts. the hardrive has no filtration to prevent damage from power fluctuation, unlike every other component in a computer. this makes the hardrive the first part to fail from a cheap psu. I repair electronics, and i have also been building my own computers for the last 12 years. take my word for it. buy a good powersupply, and stick to WD or Seagate and you will be fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Choice

Pros: Put this into a computer build for friends and loaded windows on it and tons of files pictures and music it ran flawlessly and definitely faster than sata II drives. Did not think to test the speed but windows 7 professional installed in about 15 to 20 minutes on it so it is not a slow drive at all and 1TB has plenty of room for more of their pictures and MP3 files as well as anything else they may want

Cons: price is still higher than should be

4 out of 5 eggsGreat so far, except weak power connection

Pros: Does what is says in the box, cool and quiet

Cons: Fragile connections

Other Thoughts: First time I tried to remove the power connector the L-shaped male plastic piece on the HDD broke off, staying inside the power connector. I managed to remove the broken piece and glue it back on the HDD with superglue! Runs fine for now, but obviously I've no great expectations for longevity!
